Those of you looking to buy a car, move fast. Make hay while the sun shines. In a couple of months most of these prices will be revised up back to their old levels by the car companies citing rising input costs. Do you guys honestly think that price/tax benefits will be passed on to you forever?

Are you sure Amit? Then why they slashed the price. Is it just to fool the buyers?

What Amit says is true. Increase in Steel prices, increase in labour costs will bring it back to the same level after a certain point of time.

But something is definitely better than nothing. Atleast the increase when it comes will not be on the old pre-budget price.

as does Maruti

Maruti cuts prices as well on the Maruti 800, Omni, Zen, Wagon R,
Swift Diesel and Alto.
The cut ranges from Rs 6,500 for Maruti 800 to Rs 18,030 for Swift
Diesel (ex-showroom Delhi).

Mods can this thread be merged with the budget thread? they both discuss the same things.

All the price cuts are effective April 1st ... Wouldn't that hit sales largely for these companies as everyone would wait for march to pass.

Post April 1st, it really won't make any dfference. Because the car companies will cut dealer discounts and some other goodies which are on offer right now. Don't agree with me, see it for yourself on April 1st. Try getting a final qoute (with all discounts factored in) for a small car right now and get it again on April 1st. The difference would be neglegible.

It is always like that. The dealers, car manufacturers and the government are not really that generous.
