Even i'am eagerly waiting to see 1.4 TDCi in ikon. Who knows if it fits into by budget, may exchange my present petrol ikon to it just to get the turbo diesel power and good FE with low cost of Fuel.

It will have to be in the Indigo-Logan-DZire segment. Can't be considered in the Fiesta - SX-4 bracket.

Well Ikon 1.8 D was history and yup it didnt do that well but nor did Accent Non Crdi 1.5 Diesel . Only CRDi changed things. Well the most important factor for Ikon 1.4 TDCI is the price. To kill Dzire, Logan and Indigo the Ikon has to be priced competitively. Im sure if priced well Dzire sales will be eaten by Ikon.Lets wait till November.

Actually I completely forgot about this. This came into my mind after seeing this thread. I was coming back to Chennai from Trichy by bus last Sunday. I saw four ikons lined up near the Tindivanam toll plaza, then suddenly I spot that the front end of all ikons where masked, so this must be the new Ikon diesel being tested.

Guess launch should be sometime soon.

Since the 1.4TDCI is as good as confirmed, any clue if Ford is upgrading the Fiesta with the 1.6 TDCI ?

Logically, they should. The 160 Nm will drive the smaller Ikon much better than the bigger Fiesta. By keeping the same engine in the bigger car, the bigger car will lose a big differentiator (between the two models).

Or will it be a 1.3L in the Ikon & a 1.5L in the Fiesta ?

^ AFAIK Ford have only 1.4L and 1.6L diesel options for the Fiesta.

For sure they arent testing he Fiesta 1.6. All that one get to see is front masked IKONs running on the GST road where the Ford plant is situated.

@Eddy, the Fiesta has either a 1.4L TDCI - or a 1.6 Petrol. The 1.6L TDCi is not available.

@Karan, would have made sense to upgrade the Fiesta also, with the Ikon. But looks like this will come later.

They gave the Fiesta a meaty front-end only recently. I am waiting for the 1.6, a car of its price deserves more power than what the 1.4 TDCi has on tap.
