Re: Hyundai i10 diesel

I was checking the i10 official website today and was shocked to notice i10 diesel listed there.

Check the specification tab in this site: Hyundai i10

Don't think this is a India specific website. On the features tab, you can see the left hand drive steering photo.
Having said that, it would be make immense sense to bring in the 1.1 crdi unit in i10 to India.

That's a nice catch there Samurai. But sadly, that is the international website of Hyundai i10. I guess the India i10 has a separate webpage, the link of which is given below.

http://www.hyundai.com/in/en/Showroo...313114302.html

Though it would have made immesne sense for Hyundai to bring in the 1.1 CRDi i10 to India, they have never left space for it in the exisiting line-up. If at all they are launching it, the top-of-the-line variant will be priced above the Asta (O) straying dangerously close to the Punto, Polo and i20 territory. Naturally, people will pick up the latter choices owing to their bigger size and better image.

Re: Hyundai i10 diesel

wonder what stops them from selling i10 CRDi in India. It will sure do 25k units a month, if they launch.

Also depends on the price which they launch at.

Re: Hyundai i10 diesel

75PS and 15.6 KGM Torque seems to be good for I10. Diesel mills from Hyundai(Verna, I20) is smooth and refined. So expect to burn the sales chart.

Re: Hyundai i10 diesel

This variant of the i10 has been talked about for a few years now. It is long overdue. Why is Hyundai hesitant? Perhaps the only reason might be that a CRDi i10 might not be cheap to produce and hence a higher price tag = not perceived as VFM in the segment.

Re: Hyundai i10 diesel

Considering the bore and stroke of the engine, it is a 3 cylinder engine.
Now there is a 3 pot competition coming for the Beat D with higher engine capacity. Hope Hyundai brings it to India very soon.

Re: Hyundai i10 diesel

Hmmm..i just noticed that the capacity of the engine is 1125cc.

3 cyl engine - so each cyl has a displacement of 375cc.

Which means that a 4 cyl version of this engine would have a displacement of 1500cc.

So, does hyundai have a new 1.5l 4 pot that this is based off? Or is it the verna crdi with a cylinder removed? Or is this a new engine developed from scratch which can be made into a 1.5 later on?

On another note, 75bhp at 4k rpm is pretty impressive for a 3-pot 1.1. I just hope they haven't achieved this by just sticking on a massive turbo - i would think there would be massive turbo lag. They could have short geared it but going by it's track record, i would think not (take i20 for example, even with a 6speed, really tall 3rd - good for 0-100s but not that good for the city). Does anyone have the gear ratios for the diesel?

Ugh..hyundai really should stiffen up their suspensions and offer sporty versions. All that power and nothing to do with it...

Rather than this it would be easier for them to derive a 3 pot from the 1.4 CRDi mill itself. That would be a 350*3 = 1050 CC engine which produces around 70 bhp ? They could use a small turbo and create a quite drive able engine like the Ford 1.4 TDCi. Wish list !
