Saw an article on Today's Economic Times that Nissan is launching the Murano cute ute. It's a nice CUV but given that the x-trail is already about 20 lakhs, the Murano will come in a slot above that which is a lot of money to pay for a cute ute. The CUV arena is getting really crowded.

Wish more manufacturers showed interest in launching proper SUVs !!. No office to those who love CUVs but SUV is a different segment from say the CRV with is build on the civic platform.

it looks pretty good IMO. heres a pic from the jbl stall at the autocar performance show-

Its a great car and could drive big volumes if priced well. But IMO its going to be very expensive if and i am pretty sure it will come in as CBU.

Any info on launch date?

Looks pretty okay barring the nasty looking grill IMHO.
But, the X-Trail has proper off road cred does it not?
This being a CUV, pricing should have been nearer to the CRV region. If priced below 20L with a diesel option, the Murano could see good volumes. How is this vehicle positioned vis-a-vis the X-Trail in the international markets? If this is priced lower than the X outside, it should be priced below the X here despite being a CBU na??

Its positioned much above the X trail. It has sold well in the US and look much better in real than pics.
It's the Nissan version of the Infinity FX, so its defiantly not competing with the CRVs, this a premium SUV. Which is why i fear its gonna be priced in the high 20s.

Let's hope it is the "new" Murano that is launched and not the one in the pic by akshay.

if i remember correctly, it was priced @ 34k in US. So that makes it 13.6 lakhs...with 110% duty, it would be 29 lakhs.

The looks of the Murano are very good and the street presence is felt when its in between cars.

The mean look will definitely make it stand out from the crowd.

Not worth the price IMHO. CRV2.4 , 4X4 with Sunroof is still a better option.

Nissan better get the pricing right for the murano and better start getting their advertisement strategies in place. Whats wrong with these guys , dont they want the market to know their presence. How many guys know that we have a good SUV in the form of X-trail in indian market. Same goes with the mitsu guys . Where are the Ads for the prado's and monteros and pajero's or infact the very good cedia? Sometime wonder if at all they have any marketting strategy . They cant leave all the advertisement to TBHP afterall.

Thanks for the clarification Sahil ji. There goes.. SNAFU:deadhorse

So, it will compete with the Santa Fe(s) and Montero(s) of this world.

Looks cool. From front view gives a shadow of CRV. Well only part is the pricing which they need to focus on as with the Xtrail it has still limited presence in the Indian market

There is a rajasthan registered nissan murano golden colour withe really really dark tints. i think a fully loaded v6 might clear the 40000 usd mark for a non- homologated import!!!!

It's positioned above CRV, RAV4, Santa Fe etc in the US and costs as much etc, so it definitely going to be expensive, maybe in the 30 plus given how there things are priced when they reach here.

Nissan strategy for India is difficult to discern, they are only launching their top end cars, clearly untill they manufacture here we won't get reasonably priced Nissans. Maybe they are building an image.

A Nissan Murano running on fake number plates in Parel was confiscated - on investigations it was found that the registration number belonged to a Santro Car based in New Mumbai.

How much will Nissan price this at ? 30L ?
