No question, the V6 Accord is a nice car, but personally I don't think it's a good car for spirited driving, more a very comfortable, fast cruiser. You sit quite low in the Accord, plus it's BIG and is softly sprung, so it's not the best car in the world to attack a twisty road with. Let it loose on a motorway though...

Yes, I'd have to say that the Accord is one big thorn in the Mondeo's overall plan for India (does Ford even have one?)

The top of the range 2.2 TDCi Diesel (the ST variant in Diesel) with 155 ps and 400 nm!!!
Wow...that is surely impressive!!! When is the proposed launch and what other variants of the TDCi are available (or will be available in India).

The 2.2 TDCi is the ST version, so there's about as much chance of us seeing it as that of Ford India learning to maintain these cars well! Which is a pity because a car with that kind of torque and still decent power would probably tempt me to try diesel! Sadly, till we get decent low sulphur diesel here, I don't anticipate any really hi-tech diesel motors coming here.

More likle we'll see the 2.0 TDCi which puts out 115PS / 280 nm. There's a higher tuned version of the same engine that puts out 130PS / 350 nm but that would probably need better diesel too! Still, 130 PS and 250 nm would give us a really nice diesel car which would return phenomenal mileage as well! Please Ford, please....?!

The Mondeo was way superior to the Accord. But the previous gen not the current one on sale.

The new Accord has the Mondeo beaten as a complete package.

There is a way around the Mondeo parts issue. The parts are much cheaper in the UK. If you can find a source who can despatch items to you and you have a freindly compentnet mechanic, it could be a great deal! You need to be prepared for the Mondy to be off road while waiting for parts and also build a strategic stock. However, you might need to visit dealer for ECU issues

Another thing is that with the fusion engine being made in India, engine architecture will be the same so service parts should reduce in price

Hi,
Yeah a K&N will make a good roar in the engine. The mondeo has a specially designed intake, Ford has designed in such a way to give it that sporty roar every time you floor it. The K&N should improove the FE too. One more thing unique to the mondeo is it has a 'Shorty' 4-1 Tube header. Now all you need is a header

Yep about parts do let me know i can help you guys out, also if anyone wants the mondeo service manual.. be specific on what you want, coz there is about 4500 pages..... i can post it

Cheers
Dom

Re: Downfall of Ford Mondeo!!!

Is Mondeo again coming to India in 2013, as I see in some sites? As of now Ford does not have any car in the segment above that of Vento/Verna/City...

You really ought not to have 'necro-ed' 2005 era threads for the simple fact that many of them do not comply with existing Team BHP posting standards.
