Camaro z is like a dragster used for regular driving, that is fun. I never cared abt Bhp or 0-60 or 0-100 because I know I am in a fast car, All I cared abt is can I zippppppppppppppp..

In that case you should be looking at cars with a high power to weight ratio. Having 200bhp doesn't make a car fast. A tuned Baleno zen with NOS will nuke a Camero. Having 200 bhp doesn't make a car fast, you should also have a good power to weight ratio.
Buy a Zen for around 4 lakhs and modify it for another 3, so for 7 lakhs you get yourself one hell of a ride. The Accord V6 here has 221 bhp but the City Vtec with just 106 bhp can do the 1/4 mile faster.
Power to weight is the key to performance. Bhp figures don't always indicated accelelration.
I'll be more than happy driving a 500kg car with 100bhp. Thats 200 bhp/ton.
If the value of the rupee was as much as the US $. We'd have sports cars, just to go to the loo. rl:

camaros is the last car one would want to zip in my friend ..u should look at something like the SRT-4 or the RSX to cut lanes on the higway n zip for that matter ...A DRAGSTER can never be a good zipper ...your concepts are all over the place man ..i have driven a lot here aswell and raced quite a few camaros ..they really arent muchof a threat .. an integra type R wid blow a v6 to dust ...reason?? as shant2nu said power to weight ratio...
200mph bikes? wot r they riding a turbo busa ?? lol:

I totally agree with turbo_lover and shan2nu on the power to weight ratio.. The vettes, mustangs, celicas and acuras are the zippier types..
I get the point yor point, doing 200kmph in a Ferrari is anyday more exiting than doing 250kmph in a Maybach. But, you don't necessarily need 200 bhp to be able to do that.

Ahhaa, this topic reminds me of the time I drove a 250+ HP car. The 2001 Chrysler 300M, the biggest beast I ever drove. I got a chance to test drive this at a race track in a specially laid out (using orange cones) narrow and curving lane. We were allowed to go as fast as we can as long as we don't hit any of the orange cones. If you hit the orange cone, you'd be escorted out immediately.
You won't be believe how agile this big monster was, it was very silent, it could accelerate like a cheetha and turn on a postage stamp. The steering was so precise and responsive, you could make the car dance. Eventually I decided against the car as it only had 4 speed auto. The Acura 3.2TL on the other hand had 5 speed auto cum sports stick.
Hey Vulken, you've gotta rememeber that your 6 lakh cars must be selling very well in USA, europe etc, and so, american manufacturers, using bulk production and superior cost-cutting techniques to their advantage, charge lower prices.
You must also remember that over there, there is no need to import that many parts, or to localise them, all of which adds a lot to the cost of the same cars in India.

i have been following this entire thread for a while ,and i am normally very passive with replies if i do reply, but i just HAD to reply here, youre saying a camaro will get eaten up by a zen ?? ,first of all its not happening NOS or no NOS,youre pitting a muscle car against a hatch back ,PLUS even if you SOMEHOW magically (you'd know, youre suggesting it) get 'that ' zen that can match a camaro for power with nos ofcourse ,being a fwd youre more likely to find a pole when you put the power down rather than the road.
above all each chassis has its limitation youre saying a car with designed to handle some 60-70 HP can can handle more than twice the power and more bursts of power in form of nos? doesnt make sense buddy.
handlingwise MAYBE you it can come somewhere close but fwd VS rwd,fwd are at a disadvantage coz of the inherent understeer.

what you said makes sense but again i think its a matter of personal opinion ,he finds muscle cars appealing i guess.i am all for porsche ,lambos and german cars, aka handling ,but at the same time i do have a thing for muscle cars esp the old ones like a dodge challenger and stuff so to each his own.

good choice but then again a FWD isnt as much fun as RWD considering FWD are likely to understeer and with more than 150 hp you dont wana do that.
SEE the MOST shocking part of the thread was so many people supporting the price we pay for cars, atleast for me.
i ahve always cribbed about the import duties on cars, and protectionism,i mean first of all youre restricting the consumers options and 2nd youre making him pay TWICE the price he otherwise would for the same vehicle abroad, then ofcourse there is the question of making the industry competitive,by protecting domestic industry against foreign efficiency youre just encouraging inefficiencies .for 22 lakhs odd thats somewhere what youll pay for the base MT accord, thats porsche boxster territory (a couple of lakhs more i think ) but as some one who loves cars which is most of the people on this site ,do you want to pay 53 lakhs for it ex showroom in india?
some person also mentioned lack of infrastructure as an issue, well to show some examples, there are ample number of people on this site who own exotics i'd like to quote this ONE particular person whose garage i am in love with ,bulls, bavarians and germans et all,i dont see that person just keep his cars in his garage,he drives them around and drives them like they are supposed to be driven and he's doing just fine ,his cars are doing fine,.that is the exact reason why we are only allowed to drive once we are 18 so that youre mature enough to make your decisions,if you think you can manage a more powerful imported car ,why penalise him for choosing say a porsche over say a locally manufactured car like an accord,he is paying for it isnt it ,he is paying the road taxes/duties so why this discrimination of makin him pay twice the cost of the car. if youre stupid enough to buy a low slung car in a city with pot holes for roads let him/her buy it,its his money, its his choice ,he can smash the car to pieces if he wants to ,once he owns it.
as a consumer,as someone who adores cars,i dont think it makes sense at all to have 105%(i think thats the duty isnt it?) import duty thats just a domestic monopoly.maybe somewhere around 30-40 % is justified .
and to end it ,i'd like to point out someone who was wise enough to point out that 'Every time government says anything abt duties that Bajaj guy says Im shutting the god damn Industry.'
i think cutting import duties will only be incentive to the domestic industry to become more competetive compared to their foreign counterparts, (you dont seeother countries blocking the nano following india's examples of protectionism so far)
and will hugely benefit consumers who spend their hard earned money on these cars . :D excuse the grammatical errors if any,the post length got a lil out of hand .

Which Camaro in the US comes for an equivalent of 7 lakh Indian rupees and what is the 1/4 mile time it manages.
Shan2nu
Man, I feel like laughing!!! Shan! let it go!! someone here seems to have just been visiting the US on a TOURIST visa and maybe the TOUR GUIDE mentioned the stuff to him... Freak!!
LOL!!! I can't stop laughing man!! Dunno which Highway is "the man" talking bout!! Michigan has a limit of 70mph and the the highest is I think in a very few places like Arizona and some others is 75!! Florida cannot be more than 75 and inside the city limits, forget it!!
Everyone hitting 90mph!! lol!! I can't take it anymore man, my stomach's aching!
Shrey
^^Some places in Texas and Utah do have 80mph speed limits outside the city. Inside the city it'll be 60-65. Everyone will do 90mph if the speedlimit is 80mph.
Infact I've seen quite a few cars do 85+ in Washington state where the speed limit is 70. Once in a while on deserted stretches of I-5, I've even gone past 100. You just need to know where the cops are and where they aren't. As simple as that :).
