could this be true that fiat is contemplating on stopping the 1.3 MJD as mentioned in the above blog?
The article clearly states that the place in question is poland and its not a problem with the engine but a problem with a supplier. I cant understand why are you worried?

The reason one should be worried is initial 1.3MJD engines will be imported from POLAND!!

Motor Authority Update: Fiat resumes engine production
There is a reason the worry since above link clearly mentions the issues with the quality of an engine component supplied by the vendor. Also the worry is that these engines shouldnt end up in the indian market.

If that's the case, whole of europe will be in a worry, as it consumes lot of multijets. It should not be an issue at all.

Is there is official annoucement on this from Tata's ???
If that happens then it can become good options for those who are looking for diesel hatchback with less 5L OTR.

I know they dont give a damn to thirdworld but atleast in Europe they should honour a recall.

OH god, even before the launch there is a controversy on the quality of the initial engines. If this news spreads there wont be takers for the first lot of cars.I had a discussion with some tata dealers and they are concerned about the supply of diesel cars.It seems that they get diesels in ratio of 3:1 ,3 petrols 1 diesel. That means they wont sell diesel and petrol.

with TATA's as their service partner, I am sure if they have any engine problems TATA would encourage a recall. As it would otherwise affect their "good" image. Lastly, if FIAT wasn't bothered about India, they would have left us long ago like Peugeot.

If you read the articles properly, the component fault was found during assembling of the Multijet engine and not in the cars. It was during quality control. Hence, they suspended the production.

Ok just test drove the new palio 1.3MJD. IMHO its an Average car. The refinements levels are not upto mark. Its less refined than SWIFT. High speed stability and handling was notch above swift and breaking without ABS was also good.

Biggest let down was interiors quality. They have gone TATA way in that matter.

Posting review by tonight!

This is how bad mouthing of an excellent car. Read that article properly and comment appropriately.

Fiat production using 1.3 multijet engine stopped to Monday first shift - source

Production, which represents about 25 pct of the European total, has been stopped since anomalies were found during last Monday's second shift in an engine component supplied by an external supplier.

>> What this means is that, that anomaly is corrected for the engines they manufacture.

This is interesting... cant believe how can they screw up refinement even if the engine is the same as swift.

Just curious to know how should one define an engine refinement. Is it by:
1. NVH levels of the engine
2. Power and torque delivery

This is not aimed at any particular car, just wanted to know the definition.

Can't wait for the review. Please elaborate on the refinement aspect, or the lack of it.

I don't understand why everyone was expecting FIAT to spice up the interiors for Palio.

Surely it does not make any business sense to invest huge amounts in changing the interiors, when the better models like GP are in the pipeline.

It is like asking Hyundai to change the interiors of Santro before the launch of i10!
