Autocar India & Ford Fiesta achieve 33 kpl?

Autocar guys achieved a mileage of 33.4 kmpl when they drove a Fiesta D from Bangalore to Mumbai. Is this possible?

why not ?

With a steady driving speed of around 60kph, it should not be difficult with a fiesta which is know for its frugality.

Bangalore to Mumbai has a good roads with a big chunk of it on the GQ, where it is easy to maintain steady speeds.

Taking advertorials to the next level, aren't we? What the heck is the point of such super-economy drives, if at all the mileage achieved is genuine? The driving style that they adopt cannot be used in the real world. Such nonsense and misleading publicity reminds me of some 100cc bike ads that claim 130 kpl!! And then in small print comes the statement "under ideal conditions, of course". You only wonder whose interests the media is out to serve.

Expect something similar from the Logan soon, and almost certainly with a rival magazine.

They'd done it earlier too so it's not surprising. And like GTO said, it's nothing more than an advertorial masked as an article.

Replicating those conditions in our daily drives is next to impossible.

Would really want the Govt should step in and force all the manufacturers to advice on actually mileage as a norm similar to what they do in the west. High time to stop such ambiguous declarations making rounds.

is this an adv placed by hyundai or renault?

And luckily, we dont have minimum speed limits on highways in india. Else these guys would have got royal challans

I personally beleive these magazines tie-up with one car manufacturer, and promote one at a time. I watch their magazine promoted Fiesta much since it's launch. Now they have a soft corner on Optra magnum too. Purely my personal thought!

Government should do something about these kind of reports and advertisement.

They cannot give misleading information and put a disclaimer at the end in small font - 'under ideal driving conditions'.

Why drive at 46km/hr in a Fiesta??? When they themselves show off fiery advertisements in TV like lighting all the matches with the stunning power of car in one go. Was that ad shot at 46km/hr?? Really funny...Indian govt. should wake up and take action against such nonsense unrealistic claims.

You can count your blessings if you get half that in the real world, consistently.

The 46 kph is average speed. To get that kind of average they were probably going at 70 in 5th. Most of these so called claims are verified by independent body like MAI, Autocar is smarter than that.

Their earlier record was carried out on test track in ARDE with windows rolled up & no AC. Current one on public roads is amazing & unbelievable although not entirely difficult to achieve. It would be require good amount of self control not to speed too much & with sole aim of stretching every drop of fuel.
