Our old mark 3 amby I had learned to drive on. Follows closely behind is the Uno and the santro, like someone else here, I too find the acce. pedal abit odd.

Godspeed.

Alok.

I would like to change my answer to our 1988 contessa.
Not that its a bad car or anything but the seats got jammed and getting into the driving seat itself was a nightmare. It took like half an hour to get in and once in - after 30 min - i couldn't start the car because i didn't know it had a lock mechanism and there were so many keys i didn't know which one was the right one.
Finally after i got it started, as it was raining, i took it ahead, out of the shed type of area (which is now broken down but can be visible in the background of the first pic) and tried to switch on the wiper but the bloody wiper stalk just came off into my hand.
The car isn't badly maintained but it is in use in a really small city by our company there and it is a bit tough to maintain it properly considering that there are only 2 contessas in the whole place (It is the biggest car there).
On a brighter side, the body and all has kept up quite well and if it were better built and the seats could slide back, then it definately wouldn't be here.
It was up for sale but since we can't get it passed in Mumbai, we sent it back to our factory.
Here are a few pics. One has been slightly photoshopped.

Cheers

1. Amby
2. Omni
3. Sumo/safari
4. Sonata
5. Santro

It would definatly be the amby esp the one we had long back ... the steering had a 1/2 D play in it man!!! Then it would be the OMNI , Rear wheel drive and mid engined alright but damn it feels like a tin can. Then it would be the Sumo and safari i just felt that the clutch and steering were friggin hard and vague. Safari is a gr8 car to be driven in though. Then the Sonata, X-Type jag yah right! Your mind says this is an expensive car and ur body says otherwise damn we sold this within 6months of purchase. Lastly Santro well i bought it with my own money ... the package is awesome but the Accelerator is mess... 2-3hrs of continious driving and ur foot hurts as its inclined , uncomfortable :(

AMBY for me too ( old one, dads office car long time back ) ... gears wouldnt fall into place, brakes ??? had to stand on them, pump them ( jump twice or thrice on them ) and then it would hint that it might slow down .... NO Power Steering and the steering would touch my legs when i used to get into the car... turn the steering 10 circles and then it would start to turn..... hell of an experience ... used to pity the driver.

I had the same problem while driving it for long time and my ankle used to pain. But now it stopped. The solution is simple push back the seat a bit.
My Doc who is 6'4" doesnt find any problem, unless some of you guys are over 6.4"

For me its the Amby, M800, Omni and the Tata cars. I just hate driving these cars. The two Maruti's i mentioned is for the lack of safety and the space(M800) is terrible.

well, to be frank, i haven't driven a car till date that i have, well, HATED. but for the sake of it- i have found the maruti 1000's to be a li'l sluggish. ah, and i also remember driving this certain amby, which had a matador engine mated to a sumo 'box- and no power steering or proper brakes. needless to say, the car's dynamics were no great shakes, and maneuvering it in town meant saving your gym bills.
