Tata plans cheaper Nano

An article on further cost cutting on Tata Nano in process at this site...
Tata plans cheaper Nano | Straight Frm The Heart

Dont know if it has been posted.

--------------
When the Nano was out at the Delhi Auto expo the whole world watched.Manufacturers across the world want to produce a car atleast at the double the price of the Nano. Hyundai and Renault Nissan have already started designing a car. But what next for the Nano maker? Nano may be the cheapest car ever built but Tata Motors wishes to cut the Nano’s cost further. “There is a team of people in Pune who are right now working on bringing the costs of the Nano down further,” Tata Motors Managing Director Ravi Kant said. The cost-cutting team comprises a set of people who were not part of the team led by Girish Wagh, lead designer of the Nano and Tata’s mini truck Ace.

------------------

Wondering what could be price of Nano after cost cutting.

PS- Moderators please shift it to other Section I posted it here in wrong section by mistake.

I highly doubt they will cut the price further unless they decide to just sell us an empty body she'll
This new cost cutting team must be commised to maintain the price and a healthy margin as input cost have gone up over time.

They probably want to make it cheaper so that OTR price comes upto a lakh, but even that seems cutting down on quality big time!

may be they are designing a 2 seater version. At 75k that could be a real competition to 2wheelers!

When people first heard of a 1 Lakh car, similar comments flowed. But Ratan proved big time and in fact the car looks and feels much better than a 2 lakh car. I would not be surprised if they can make the OTR to 1 Lakh by sheer engineering excellence. They are capable.

Its not even launched and they planning to reduce the price.
I guess they want to take the World s Cheapest Car throne from
Tara Tiny. But its something great that they trying to reduce the cost price
when the overheads are increasing. Would be great if they pull it off!

Keep going

If there is will, there is a way. I'm pretty sure our TATA engineers will be able to do it. I guess, 1 LAC OTR is the target now. So car should cost around 80K ex showroom.
All the best TATA Engineering. Do us proud again.

Don't expect the price tag to come down. This is only to increase the wafer thin margins, if any, on the base variant.
