Tatas will have to bring in some drastic changes in Indigo to maintain its postion. It will also require an image makeover. Maybe the Jaguar deal will help. However MUL's inability to deliver cars at right time will put off many customers (SX4 is on a waiting list). However only time will tell whether Dzire will push of Indigo from its pedestal. It may also happen that Dzire will eat into the market share of SX4.

But is not rear leg room in the Swift terrible? To me, this is a big limitation. Agree with your other points though.

If swift became a hot selling hatch with this limitation, then same applies for Dzire as well.

Thay have worked on the rear seat comfort, as per what i have read. And i think Dzire's all other pluses are enough to take it ahead of the comeptition. I mean- look at the competition - logan, indigo, accent. They were simply selling because there was nothing better.

DZire

My vote is for the Maruti DZire.

Accent - dated, ? on the verge of being discontinued
Indigo - Poor fit & finish, unrefined & noisy engines, ? reliability issues, service +/-
Logan - Ergonomic disaster, ? Mahindra and Renault have split ways (although they may stay together for the Logan), (subjective) plain jane looks
Dzire + Excellent fit & finish, refined engine, integrated music system and steering wheel controls are cool, presumed reliabilty (after all it is almost a Swift), legendary Maruti service, Value For Money, Should have the best resale value

no way I am selecting one between the four for myself, but Dzire seems to be in a different league altogether.. so vote goes to Dzire

Accent is old and outdated, the Dzire is plain ugly (I feel like barfing just by looking at it, sorry fans), the Logan is French- so it's rubbish anyway.
So it's our indigenous Indigo for me. For the price you cannot beat it.

It's like a Ford in North America; cheap, ubiquitous, and used as cabs, but people still buy it because it works.

Tata should try to launch the Next Gen Indigo soon. If they delay it too much then Dzire might overtake it. Since Dzire has waiting period for Diesel. Tata should capatilise this situation. Problem is they planning to launch the Indica '08 only around May- June. So Launching Indigo immediately will be quite impossible. Tata wake up !!

Buy Indigo for its price and space. For everything else, buy Dzire. Don't know what do you buy a Logan for?

Car purchase process invariably involves a lot of emotion. If it was a plain machine a person was buyig Logan would make sense due toits sound mechanicals. But sadly for Mahindra Renault, it is not the case and unless they cut the prices of the Logan Diesel it will not sell. The company should also try to improve the astheics of the Logan. I saw a Logan with customised interiors including leather upholstery, alloys and it looked a lot better than the stock Logan.
