Thanks for reviving this thread Invinsible. But I am not sure how far this might happen.

But 280bhp at 27 lakhs with the amazing track prowess of the EVO is definetly value for money

Is it just the EVO X they're planning to launch or are they also bringing in the new gen. Lancer (non EVO). So when its launched, we'll have the old Lancer, the Cedia, the new Lancer and the EVO X. They better pull the plug on both the old Lancer and the Cedia and replace them with the new gen. one and price to compete with the Civic

There's no way Mitsubishi would manufacture the EVO X in India. Therefore, if it was to come in it would be CKD and be priced very high due to the import duties (just like the Fiat 500 etc).

However, if they want to arrest their steady decline in market share Mitsubishi should definitely consider bringing in the latest generation Lancer (non EVO) to compete with the Civic etc. But this seems doubtful as the company seems to have given up entirely.

They should launch the Ralliart too. It will give people who cant afford an Evo something to hope for! 230 odd bhp with AWD is not too bad!

I have my doubts on whether HM will be able to price the EVO competitively. Recent forex fluctuations have seen the price of the Montero shoot up from 40 lakhs to 48!! That's a 20% increase on an SUV that was already overpriced.

Considering that the EVO will be a CBU as well....

The price may decrease soon.
The duties are going to be slashed soon for SUV's.

EVO X has figures that will make Supercars feel like family hatchbacks.

0-60 Mph : if am not wrong is in 3.9 seconds ?

and fuel efficiency of 4 miles (when driven hard) to the gallon which turns to be around 1.68 km PL. even if driven consciously this car will only give 2 km pl (source Top Gear)

Let supercars match this

cheers,
ac

Agree with you there.. In fact all CBU mode manufacturers are struggling to maintain competitive prices. The US prices are 33000 and 39000 USD for two trims.. Adding 105% duty or so, it would anyway come to between 66000 and 78000 USD. That is surely in the 30 lakhs plus range.

This CBU route is so annoying for this reason for enthusiasts who cannot really afford these options.

Its surely going to be over 30L going by all our math. OD has been sniffing something offlate.

I think many of these figures are off. Can you please provide source for these figures?

This is OT, but let me ask.
I doubt this is going to happen. What is the logic behind this just for SUVs?

Is such a bill going to be passed so that our Politicians can import their choice of SUVs?

Jeremy Clarkson says 0-62MPH in 4.2. Owners of the US trim have timed it anywhere from 4.8 to 5.2. Now, Clarkson drove the nutty FQ-360 with 360BHP. The US folks had to make do with "only" 291BHP.

So yes, it is capable of supercar acceleration. Fuel efficiency for the FQ-360 is a surprising 19.9MPG combined. So no, it doesn't give 2KMPL when driven sedately. It is only 2000CC for crying out loud.

Mitsubishi claims the milage of the US spec 291 bhp Evo to be 17 in the city and 22 on the highway. So certainly not 2 kmpl!!

I suppose 27L is worth a price even if they plan to import it as per the orders. Surely it's gonna be worth the wait. There are lot many changes done to it against the outgoing evo. Though the power has gone up due to weight increase 0-100 time remains near about 4.8 to 5 secs. How are it's much better in terms of handling but ride has become stiffer.

But in the end it's gonna be truly worth it. Here's a small review on it.
Mitsubishi Evo | First Drives | Car Reviews | Auto Express

Here's another shot. If 280 is not just enough one can get Vishnu performance's remap which pumps it upto 380bhp. Enough to reach 100 in 4.5 sec.
Vishnu Performance Systems

How many car can give you this, a 300+hp car under 30 lakhs.
The closest rival I can think of is the new Nissan 370z with its V6 332hp and both come at around the same price tag.
It's gonna be interesting if both these are launched here.
