What was really funny in that rediff page was the first line

"Japanese automobile company Mitsubishi Motors is gearing up to enter the luxury sedan category with Lancer Evolution X"

Yeah right thats what I am looking for the the Evo 10.. a Luxury Sedan..
Heated seats, rain sensitive wipers, climate control.

"Mister salesman - what other features does this have?? How is the leg room in the back seat? Comfortable?"

!! Pifff !!!

heheh - thats a good one. HM will retire the Amby only in year 2099. They have a contract with the devil to continue the model till then.

with our wonderful import duty rates and looking at US/UK et all prices, I agree that it would be in 30L range.

Also, EVO and VFM are rarely used in the same sentence.
I agree but the Subaru WRX is quite on par. Dont think GM would bring it after the forester failure.

Its exactly for this reason I dont believe that the car will be launched here in India with 280 odd bhp? It will come with the Evo X design with some lame 2L engine with 135bhp (just lil more powerful than the Cedia)

When I hear more official news I will believe it.

A "decently loaded" EVO retails for about $40k(taxes/reg extra). This indicates retail in India of about 32+ lacs (being a CBU with 105% duty and all other reg/insurance expenses).

Not exactly VFM in my opinion.

Me, am waiting to pay-off the Yaris and dive hook-line-sinker for the EVO X in '09.

I hope the prices are kept in this range by time it's launched, there is a tendency with auto makers to go up in price. for 21 lacs it's a steel [in India].

The Weblink does say that Mitsu isn't planning on manufacturing the car in India.. so it should hopefully come with all the euro specs "hopefully"

For those of you who dont know what an Evo is

Now, I would agree Accord and Camry are not quite upto it. (In the Evo's intended audience segment, which does not look for presence or absence of a strategically placed cupholder/passport holder)

Kudos to Mitsubishi.

The price looks decent for the beast.
I was expecting more as it would be a CBU.

More news. Is Mivec too?

The news is reported in Business Standard too. Autopandit says Mivec is also coming in 2009 along with Evo. And Wikio.com is also reporting the same.

Business standard link

Autopandit link

Wikio link

Still can't say they are as authorised to believe. But seems we are getting closer . High hopes.
