Re: Let's go back in history: What's the cheapest price of Petrol/Diesel that you paid

I remember paying Rs. 40/- fifteen years back when filling petrol for my bike. I felt the price was way too high and thought diesel car was the way to go. This was before diesel subsidies were removed.
Now I feel bicycle is the way to go.

Re: Let's go back in history: What's the cheapest price of Petrol/Diesel that you paid

I started driving / riding almost ten years back when I started college. I think back then it was like 55-60 INR. The pricing these days are ridiculous. I think it has touched the 90INR mark. The electric cars with proven long range tech better come out soon.

Re: Let's go back in history: What's the cheapest price of Petrol/Diesel that you paid

I remember paying 38 rupees for a litre in 2005 while using my dad's maruti 800. Hangout routines with friends usually involved pooling cash in the morning and conducting in depth analysis. The problem to solve revolved around deciding whether to take the bus to the mall and have some fun, alternatively arrive in style and then goof around . Petrol price was a great driver for financial planning in our early days.

My father used to fill petrol in his bullet at one time for Rs 3 a litre.
The cheapest I remember was Rs 16 when we as kids used to scoot away on a Priya scooter

I remember when I use to go to college in 2001 my parents will give me 50 Rs for petrol everyday. It used to fill 2 litres of petrol in my Yamaha so 25 per litre is the cheapest I remember.

Re: Let's go back in history: What's the cheapest price of Petrol/Diesel that you paid

The first vehicle I owned was a Kinetic Honda DX in '95 or so. I was an impecunious student in Mumbai, so the modus operandi was to ride it till it ran dry, beg/borrow some money, push it to the pump just outside the campus and fill - based on affluence level of the day - 1 litre for Rs. 20 or 0.5 litre for Rs. 10.

I think I was getting about 35 kmpl and my commute within campus was about 5 km each day, so a litre was more or less good for a week.

My Dad used to buy diesel @ 12 per litre for his Armada Jeep way back in 1997.
When my car ownership started in 2010, diesel was around Rs 38 per litre .

Re: Let's go back in history: What's the cheapest price of Petrol/Diesel that you paid

The earliest and the cheapest per litre price for petrol I remember my father paying was ₹12/-; we had a TVS Champ then.

While owning a Kinetic Luna during my college days, I have paid prices ranging from ₹38-45/-.

As for the present scenario, with the way things are progressing, I tend to think that whatever I am paying today will be the cheapest price that I am destined to pay for the rest of my life: for, I see no chances of prices going back to the (₹)70s and the 80s ever again.

Re: Let's go back in history: What's the cheapest price of Petrol/Diesel that you paid

Reading some of the posts it makes me aware my age !

The earliest that I can remember is paying Rs. 18 for one liter of Petrol for filling up in my M80. That was a good scooter which served me from 11th standard, engineering and all the way into my first job.

I remember around 21 Rs per liter when I was a kid. Since I started owning car, most of the times the rates have been more than 60. Sometimes, they have been below 60.

Re: Let's go back in history: What's the cheapest price of Petrol/Diesel that you paid

Greetings,
We were travelling to Shirdi in our ambassador in 1992, 5 rs 80 ps was the cost of diesel at that time.
I still remember we filled up in a bunk near Tembhurni.

Later in 94, when I had my first TVS champ, I always used to fil petrol for 10 rs. And used to get almost a litre for that price.

When got my 1st gen swift on 2007, petrol was around 40 rs.

In 2019 when I upgraded to Scross diesel, it was around 75 rs. Exactly 2 years later it crossed 100rs!!

Stay Safe.

I recall paying Rs 17 to fill up my Kawasaki Bajaj RTZ in 1991. I think it moved up from Rs 15, if I'm not mistaken and there was some furore. It was a huge burden back then too, since income was low

Re: Let's go back in history: What's the cheapest price of Petrol/Diesel that you paid

In 1995 or so, I remember getting more than 3 litres of petrol plus engine oil for Rs 100. It was for a Bajaj Super scooter.
In 2010, when I got my first car, petrol price was close to Rs 50 if I recollect correctly.
