Re: Let's go back in history: What's the cheapest price of Petrol/Diesel that you paid

Our first car was bought in 2007, so if I remember correctly, the lowest we've paid is between ₹41-45. Oh the good old days!

Least I paid was around 30-35 in 2002-2003. I was in 9th std and riding my brother's Suzuki Samurai those days without a drivers license

Re: Let's go back in history: What's the cheapest price of Petrol/Diesel that you paid

I recall my father paying Around Rs. 30 per liter in late 90s and now you won't even get 250 ml in the same price.

Today I paid Rs. 104.00 per liter in Delhi and probably thinking to move out to Noida/Gurgaon to enjoy 5-6 rupees cheaper fuel.

Not long back, before lockdown and covid scare, I paid around Rs. 80 per liter. So much hike in recent times. Totally shaking the foundation of middle class budgeting.

You have either go the year wrong or the figure wrong with respect to the price of petrol.Petrol was retailing at Rs.3.95/litre in the mid seventies. In 1987 it was 8.25/litre and gradually reach Rs12/litre.Only after the 1991 BOP crisis and subsequent decontrol of the exchange rate ,the price shot up to 18.75/litre and then it was on an upward journey.

I have filled for INR 15-16 per liter in 1992ish.

The maximum I paid was 114.90 per liter, a couple of days before they slashed the prices in Karnataka recently.
