I would like to know from the fellow users whether the 7500-8000 Kms Engine oil and oil filter change service on a Tata Indigo LX is still valid or not.

The Service tickets as well as the Owners manual mentions about such a service, but the dealer says that this service is withdrawn by Tata!!!!

Is this true?

I did it some time back when my car completed 7500 kms. They did do servicing and did change the oil too.

i am also feeling confused in this regard,in my indica s owners maual its mentioned that the oil change has to be done at 7500kms but some time back tata told all the dealers to change the oil of all the indicas at 10000kms,but i have still not changed my service schedule

I guess it has to do with the run in period. My guess is that since there will be many mi-nute particles that will get mixed with the engine oil after the engine has run in, it's safer to get an oil change asap

After that, i guess you can stick the usual 10K interval.

I received a mail confirmation from Tata Motors itself on this.

Indigo requires oil and filter change every 7500 KM and Indica requires it every 10K km.

I guess the oil change at 7.5K for Indigo has something to do with the filtered Engine Oil being used for Turbo Charger lubrication as well.

Armed with the information from TBHP and the mail from Tata Motors, I've done the 7.5K oil and filter change and the vehicle feels a lot more smoother now.

These Tata Dealers are a confused lot...They feel they are still selling trucks lol:

With regular engine oil,oil change interval should not cross 7,500 kms.
But with synthetic, diesel engines can go till 10-12k kms without an oil change. I've heard petrol engines run on synthetic for around 15-18k kms without change. But, oil conditions can vary from car to car.So, check the quality of the oil after 10k. If it needs replacement, do it.

i say 4000kms or 3-4 months for normal oil and 8000kms or 6-8 months for synthetic oil in bombay conditions. prove me wrong?
