I fully agree with the views expressed by fellow bhpians.Fabia is a nice hatch.Charging a premium for the brand is fine, but i guess this is day light robbery.

I have seen only 1 Fabia Diesel on roads so far, and going by that, the Petrol version should be even less popular.

Horribly overpriced, horribly underpowered. What is Skoda thinking??

here in chennai , fabia diesel is there everywhere i look. never expected to see as many as there are rolling around

The Fabia sold 500 odd units last month.compare it to the Honda CRV which sold 329 unitsand it is obvious that the indian public is not taking too kindly to this car.

As per an article published in one of the auto magazine (cant recall), Skoda is not able to provide required units. Customers has to wait for a month or two, depending on their booked model, before they get the delivery of Fabia.
No doubt the car is pretty expensive, but Skoda wants to maintain their brand value.

I totally agree... since the launch i've hardly seen 3 or 4 fabia's on the roads in b'lore. the 'premium' offering comes with some poor engine choices.

Seriously....

ABS generally comes in handy and avoids deployment of airbags.
Airbags in the Fabia base model will only deply to prove that ABS should have been bought!

But we also have a 1.1l i10 that is priced at almost 5.5 lac on road. fabia is a fabulous car (as per autocar and cnbc auto) and has the build quality to command this kind of premium. In any case it is another option to our aam junta. A lot of cars in India are quite overpriced (Hyundai are champions of this game, look at i10 prices - a santro for 25% more! or look at Honda City - ABS/Airbags version almost costs more than Corolla or Optra these days! ). In the end if customer is willing to pay, it wouldnt matter to these companies. If
nobody buys them then in few months we will start seeing fabuous discounts (like Cedia etc)

I thought only Hyundai is going crazy with pricing its latest models. But these guys beat Hyundai in pricing. IMHO, it is going to be another sub-1000/month car.

I have seen only 1 or 2 Fabia in Bangalore in all these days.

I second bottle. I see quite a few Fabias on the IT Corridor. People who aspire to own a Skoda will shell out what's required.

I do think it is ovepriced.
But then why compare sales figures with other small cars? IIRC ACI mentions that target sales numbers are 10000 per year or thereabouts. Which is almost the number of Swifts sold every month.
Skoda must be happy with the meagre numbers and high margins.
