There were rumours floating around in italiaspeed.com that 1.3 MJD would be updated to 95 horses and it would also get a couple more kgm of torque. Looks like India will get the latest engine that Fiat will release around the time when Linea will be launched, if this report is to be believed.

With seven variants in diesel and petrol, Palio sells around 600 units a month. We are selling as much as we produce. We are increasing our production to meet the market demand,” said the spokesperson of Fiat India.

Amit, I don't see any humor in the Spokeperson's statement, he just told the facts, post launch of Palio MJD, Fiat is selling around 600 palios a month.

When other Indian car makers can do that with their age old cars like 800, Alto, Wagon R, Santro etc, why not Fiat with Palio?
Palio is still one of the best large hatches in the country!

A spokeperson from Fiat had told this , so it should be true . Linea could well be my next car so im surely gonna have a close eye on Fiat's A** !

Could be. But its not selling enough to provide Fiat with a strong foothold. Hence should be replaced. A lot of negative vibes are attached with the Fiat+Palio combination and they have to countered with a New Product + Better Service combination.

No other option for Fiat India.

The spokeperson has some humour!

First of all, their target is not 600, its 800 (Diesel alone had a target of 500 cars a month!) and IFRC their production capacity is several thousand cars a month! The sales never touched 500 cars, let alone 600!

I have been waiting for Linea since last August and now tired of waiting. I can easily decide between verna xi/xxi and linea if someone can give me the engine spec details of petrol version( I won't be interested in linea if its under 80 bhp since it will be underpowered like NHC).

the linea wil be most probably be 120 bhp petrol for the 1.4 tjet petrol and for the normal petrol it will be around 90 bhp

If the diesel option comes in 1.3l then it would definately be 90 bhp and if 1.6l comes then it would be around 110 bhp which was tested in sweden and the dream 1.9mjd will be around 140bhp

this is what i have heard

There are two versions; one with 77 bhp as you have rightly mentioned. The other one is of around 96 bhp.

I am not sure which one would come to India though.

I feel 1.4 wont be sufficient for this large car. They will mostly plonk in the existing 1.6 from Palio or bring in a new 1.6.

Fiat Linea - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Here they have also mentioned 1368cc 118 bhp T-Jet. Even with a 10 bhp drop, this engine should make it to India.

It would be interesting to see the diesel range from Fiat.
