You think 1.4 wont be sufficient & 1.3 D will be sufficient? There is no chance
that Linea will get the 1.6 that is plonked in the Palio. I think its quite certain that we will get the 1.4 P & 1.3MJD 90 BHP.Let Fiat first make this car VFM ,improve its A** and then think of bringing new engines.

The 1.3 MJD will have greater torque, but the petrol 1.4 grunt will not be enough.

The 1.4 is having in 115 Nm in the link I have provided.
Another user also posted the image link and there also the power is 95BHP ( Wikipedia has 8V 76 bhp ) but the torque remains as 115 Nm.
Its not sufficient for the car, IMO.
The modern diesel has got a lot of technology in its favour, I suppose.

Hi Deepak,

You are correct, infact there are 3 versions, 1.4 8V FIRE, 1.4 16V STARJET and 1.4 16V T-Jet.

For the moment in Turkey, we have only the 1.4 8V and 1.4 16V T-Jet on the Linea and all three on the GP.

My guess would be that FIAT would probably do only the 1.4 8V and 1.4 16V NA in India and bring in the 1.4 T-Jet if the competition forces it to.

Why does that catalogue show hydraulic power steering? The Grande Punto comes with electric power steering?!

In Europe, it EPS. In Brazil, Punto is launched with HPS. I guess India will follow the Brazil route. This is one of the major differences between European and Brazilian Punto, the other difference being a slight increase in boot space in the Brazilian Punto. It is 280 cc in Brazil as against about 275 in Europe if I remember this one correctly. Of course, there are other minor differences in suspension settings and styling.

They should rather concentrate on the diesel version. That is what is going to sell more.

Fiat Linea - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Here they have also mentioned 1368cc 118 bhp T-Jet. Even with a 10 bhp drop, this engine should make it to India.

It would be interesting to see the diesel range from Fiat.
Thanks for this useful link. I think, we can take the 1.3 MJD as a certainty. The question is what will come in the petrol version. I fear it may only be the 1.4L 77 BHP engine. Fiat is banking on Linea to become a volume player in the C segment and it may take it's cue from the NHC 1.4 L idsi 77 BHP engine. After all, if you give a fuel efficient car with good interiors and lavish space, it should sell, what say? But a premium image and at least a decent A.S.S is required to form the complete package, which Fiat needs to improve on.
Here is what I am hoping - Fiat will bank on the 1.3 MJD for volume sales and targets the 120 BHP petrol engine for the driving enthusiasts, what say? ( after all the Palio sales have gone up after the introduction of the 1.3 MJD - whereas the underpowered 1.1 L petrol engine has done nothing much for it's sales. is the 1.1L Stile selling that much more than the 1.6 L sports?)
And of course, improve it's A.S.S!!

The ideal line-up should be something like this:

Gasoline:

1.4 95 bhp
1.4 95 bhp with either LPG or CNG based on the availability of either of these.
1.4 T 120 bhp
1.4 T 120 bhp with either LPG or CNG

Diesel:
1.3 JTD with 95 bhp (hopefully after the update which is due this Italian summer)
1.9 JTD with 140/150 bhp for the enthusiasts

All other bells and whistles are welcome, like Blue and Me, blah blah blah...

The linea looks to be a graceful car.
Wishing Fiat all the best for making a cut "Atleast" this time around.

OT:Any Idea when the GP is coming

Ideal is the key word you have used. From past history - fiat has always brought out a petrol and a diesel. And usually its different dissplacements not different bhps. So i think in this case they might just bring out the more frugal one.

Expect GP to be launched 3-4 months after Linea. Dec- Jan seems to be possible launch time. I had read in Business Line few days back about Dec Launch

I Spoke to a dealer in Bangalore(Concorde Motors) and I was told that the launch of Linea is at least 2 to 3 months away. Has Fiat officially announced any launch date yet? I was rather hoping that Linea would come in by September!

The Fiat India website says that the Bravo would come in with a 1.9 JTD, so it is unlikely that the Linea would get a 1.9 JTD.

You are posting different stuff in 2 different Linea threads?? Do you really have some info or just posting for the sake of posting?

PS: Oops! Just realised that it was some other guy with a very similar id and same reference. Sorry!
