The policy may be stupid, but this comment sounds a little harsh to a fellow man.

For gods sake, Fiat, wakeup. There are hundreds of people waiting for Linea. Time to realize your dreams of being a volume player in India.
Does anyone know for sure when they will launch Linea ?

there was nothing harsh there - I was just thinking like khan_sultan pointed out as to why he can't upload - and I felt maybe his parents or something, or maybe he works for fiat
finally i realised while typing above that it must be his company security policy and no there is nothing stupid about such a policy, as data leakage is a reality and companies need to protect their intellectual property from being accidentally or purposely uploaded out of their realm
all this is way

so lets hope he gets back home soon and uploads the pics for us asap

For now they want us to be happy with the Fiat 500.

Its going to be the biggest flop since the 309.

Which one? 500?

Fiat 500 is not meant to be a hit or flop product!

Interesting! Many people have actually seen 500s on the roads commanding decent attention. And dealers have reported bookings (some 20 with a Pune dealer) for it. So let's see how it turns out! Yes the S10 did suffer a slow finish after the popularity at the start of that 500 limited number!

Interesting again! When did Fiat make the 309? In India?

I guess you are mistakenly referring to the Peugeot 309 that was sold by the erstwhile Premier Automobiles Ltd. in no connection with FIAT (on a short tryst with that French Manufacturer that made then PAL-Peugeot). FIAT later bought the remaining assets of PAL!

That said, the 309 was a real handsome car at that time. And the diesel engine was the best at offer back then. It was so good that Maruti had to source the engine from Peugeot because parent Suzuki didn't have any diesel engines on offer then. It did service on extremely frugal versions of the Zen and Esteem. Running costs (at then fuel rates) were lower than an equivalent petrol 2-wheeler!

First of all 500 wasnt launched to sell in big numbers. Everyone knows that.
If you think its a flop thats your perception. Fiat has launched it to built its brand image.

Are the dates of Sept 4 & 5 of Linea confirmed ?? Cos those dates are doing the rounds in many forums.

Odd? IMHO the Linea is a beautiful looking car. It's the first Fiat I would seriously consider buying in India.

If I remember correctly it was codenamed TUD-5 engine which did duty on 309s, Zen Ds and esteem Ds.
It was a much talked about engine at that point of time just like the current MJD/DDiS

Coming back to the topic I hope the linea doesnt suffer from the same plain jane interiors as the palio. come on FIAT give us something we very well deserve.

Looks are very subjective. Most people find Aishwarya Rai beautiful, I find her plastic and artificial . Besides, if the NHC and Swift Dzire can sell then I don't see why Linea would find the going tough on the basis of looks.

Fiat has said that the Linea will be launched in September. Why do we still keep asking them to wake up and launch the car fast?!

Linea and GP interiors are no secrets. Go to any euro fiat website and check out the interiors. The design seems simple and well laid out. If you want flair and futuristic design then you could be disappointed. Quality is something that we will know once we 'touch & feel' it.

DISAGREE to some extent
I have no qualms about the looks of the current Palio (or for the matter of fact the upcoming GP and linea as well) .
My only grunt is the interiors which can be much better?

my dear friend looks and quality are not like worlds apart.
Had it been so, then Palio should have looked like some ugly duckling which it definitely is not.

cheers

The Peugeot 309 was a handsome looking car (atleast from the front). Nothing to write about the back of the car. Anyways I guess we'll be going off-topic if we discuss more about the 309 in the Linea topic.

A good idea would be to have a separate topic to discuss all the out-of-production cars sold in India (309, Escort, Cielo, Astra, Tata Estate.... ) what say??
