Could it not be the fabia RS ?

This could perhaps be the Fabia RS that has 1.9 L oil motor and produces abt 125 odd horses.

The wild child from Czech Republic would perhaps be priced in the 10L range.

What would be really interesting is the Fabia with the oh so lovely 1.8 20VT. Or, the 1.4 TSi. Hot hatch anyone??

I dont think the 1.9tDi would do duty on the fabia. IMO skoda will introduce the 1.9 PD

There were plans on the Fabia Rs but all scrapped as of now, though i hope it comes soon. WIll be 1 hot hatch many would rush for.

I was planning to buy a 1.4 MPI simply because I didn't find the diesel worth paying 9L (OTR Bangalore). Think I should wait for the new launch instead?

I am very sure its gonna be the Fabia vRS powered by the same 1.9PD engine found on Laura hitting 110BHP. My pricing guess would be 13-14 Lakhs.

Moving to an engine capacity of more than 1500cc will attract 12% more excise duty.
Add the extra cost of the new engine.
Now, do the math.

If the pump duse will do duty, i dont think you should wait for it. It will not be as good as the Tdi.

They were ALREADY late - talk about the Fabia launch had been doing the rounds for 4 years before it was finally launched.

With the wrong engine.

So now do we expect the hatch to cost Rs.12 lakhs with the new engine that will probably come out after 2 more years?

Skoda!

My guess is that the Price will be at least 10L (considering 9L On road
Bangalore for a 1.4 Diesel).

Some doubts if you can clear please, 'coz I just booked the 1.4 Petrol.

1. Why is the excitement of having 1.9 engine in an hatchback, is
it very exciting to drive or fun to drive? . How different will it
be than a 1.9 Sedan?

2. If Fabia is getting 1.9 Diesel, won't we still say that the price is too high and is better to get the Octy? (Which has a garage space hidden
in the boot!!)

3. Which car would be the competitor for 1.9 Fabia?

1) compact and lesser weight ; more power to weight ratio
2) Yes, if you want boot. Like Dezire and Swift; the price factor will be the biggest issue
3) Optra/SRV, Rolls, Octavia, Safari, CRV

Comp. to the 1.9 will be the Fiat 500, Mini Cooper, and the Beetle(2010 if it comes)

Also it may be competing with the Honda Jazz sports version ( 1.5 ltr 110 bhp) but that will be a petrol

That's real good news, I always thought Fabia was underpowered considering it's closest competitors Getz and Swift. The 1.9 will sure pack a punch, though I'm pretty sure the pricing is going to be sky high (>10L OTR). I'll skip this one and wait for the Jazz launch which I hope will be more bang for the buck... Being a die hard Honda fan, this is a completely biased opinion, and of course, it's absolutely realistic
