Is Skoda Octavia gonna be stopped?

Well i had this question because as everyones knows that the Skoda Laura is the new Octavia but sold along side the old octavia in India. The Skoda Octavia is facing intense pressure from competition in the form of Chevrolet Optra Magnum, Corolla, cedia and civic. So what will Skoda india do to revive sales ... will it stop the octavia as in india it is due for an upgrade? tell me what you think........

Octavia's sales are going good and leaving out Civic, its outselling all the others , so no point discontinuing the existing model.
No point presuming things on our own.

i don't think so in punjab the car still sell well
and they have further reduced the price by deleting few things such as door guard etc.

Well in UK octavia (I) is also selling side by side laura (octavia II), just like in india.

And I feel octavia has a more classy body than laura. Plus I own one too .

Autocar India Forums: Skoda Octavia still current in the UK
There was this thread in ACI forum which said this.

I checked the site right now Octavia I is not there. Sorry for the wrong info.
But I still think Octavia (I) is better than laura.

Octavia sales are slowing down big time; in fact, the Laura now outsells the Octavia by a comfortable margin. Skoda India has smartly repositioned the Laura, via base versions and price cuts, to take over from the Octavia.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Octavia is discontinued in the near future. Or to make way for the VW's!

Its either that...or...The Octavia will be offered in a lower spec 1.6 version, which was a rumor in the past too... this way it can compete with the City,SX4,etc.

The Hurricane, seems to be starting new threads like a Hurricane

Even I dont think why Skoda would discontinue the Octavia, when its selling in good numbers.

I think it is best for Skoda to start the end of life cycle for Octy.

This way they can generate more revenue by pushing for Laura (where they have more margins), as well as give a facelift.

This way, its resale value might also drop and it becomes more "affordable" to us

Skoda Octavia

Skoda Octavia has been seeling good and seems to be a value for money car in its segment. I dont think it will be stopped as it has customers to buy it. Though Laura was a replacement for the octavia, the company should have thought to replace the octavia with a new Laura. I find Octavia eating the market share of Laura.

All the car model pages in the Skoda India site 'Showroom' are 'under construction'. Except for the Fabia I think.

What's cooking?

The Octavia sales are still pretty strong. The impending fuel price hike will only boost the old Octy's sale. I dont think Skoda has a reason to discontinue Octavia yet.

Skoda is planning for some cosmetic changes in octavia alongside working on a smaller engine probably 1.6 to take on competition.

Skoda has also announced of bringing the fabia sedan by 2009 with 1.9 TDI engine

YES GTO you are right , the Laura Ambiente (base model) has outselled octavia reasons:-

The elegane model of octavia is almost similarly priced as of Laura Ambiente
The Base model lacks all the luxury frills
And in almost the same price bracket the Laura is bigger, better car anyday

Any lower and you will hear them say "Hello Fabia! Maybe they ought to reposition the Fabia too.
