You have two cars that are more than 1+ lakh km. More importantly, you have a Hyundai car. Since you plan to buy another Hyundai, the experience with your existing Hyundai should provide you with the best clue as to whether extended warranty is really worth it.

@ Wildon : You probably want to check this thread out. Yup, I'm a firm believer of extended warranties.

This is cool.

I have an extended warranty for 4 years from Maruti. My Baleno's 02 sensor failed. The original Baleno one is 8k+. They fitted me an Alto 02 sensor for 2700. The sad part is that sensors are not covered in extended warranty of Maruti.

Hello Wildon,

I could not find in the blogs the scanned copy as mentioned initially by "Flyingsupur", but I guess you would have had your i10 by now and can advise regarding the same. I am going in for a i10 Asta AT, and the dealer is adding 3rd year warranty at around 3700/- to reach the On road price. Going through the blogs, I am curious to know following:

1. The inclusions and exclusions in extended Warranty for Hyundai i10. Previous page on the same blog details on same lines, Appreciate if you can help to confirm. Also, suggest if this is the comprehensive Warranty being offered.

2. Should I go in for a extended warranty for 4th and 5th year. Please consider its a AT (no prior experience with ATs) and my running is expected to be around 10k per year.

Thanks
Anshum

@ Anshum - I apologise for the (massive!) delay in uploading the scanned pictures. My i20 booking itself ran into some major trouble and I'm yet to book another i20 for myself. Studies also keeping me busy. Anyway, I'll try to have the scans uploaded within the next 24 hours (if I can find my pendrive !!)

I bought an i10 Magna with 2+1 yr. warranty in March 2009. Running is about 900-1000 km per month, mainly by my wife. This is my 1st Hyundai.

Should I go in for the 4th and 5th yr EW? What will be the costs?

Thanks

We have a 2007 Santro Automatic which will be completing 2 years next week. So we purchased the 5-years / 100,000km extended warranty yesterday. It helped a bit that Hyundai is offering a 20% discount on the extended warranty till 20th (tomorrow).

If you plan to keep the car for 5 years, then it makes sense to get the extended warranty. Even if you sell the car before 5-years, you will get a better price if the car is under warranty.

For the i10, the 4th & 5th Yr / 100K cost is Rs 10,630 for comprehensive and Rs 3,550 for power-train only extended warranties.

If you buy it on or before the 20th, you get 20% discount which makes it Rs 8,504 for the comprehensive and Rs 2,840 for the power-train only.

Cheers
Teja

The five year extended warranty is only on the petrols.

Only a third year extended warranty is being offered by hyundai on the diesel motors.

Finally !!

Finally managed to find my pendrive. Sincere apologies for the delay !!

The form shows the costs for each model and on the rear side, inclusions and exclusions. Now what do you make of it? Worth going in for?

Can anyone here please confirm the offer above for the i20 Asta variant? I went to HMP today to book, sales lady flatly refuses to acknowledge the existence of such an offer !! After telling her to check (and she did it as if she's doing me a favour) she comes back to flatly refuse any such offer on the i20.

So the net average annual cost is 3,300 for the Santro and 4,700 for the i20, for each year of extended coverage?

Worth every paise IMO.

Thanks. Will go for it. Did you read the inclusions and exclusions in the second attachment? Any opinion on that?

Anyway I've missed the 20% discount which was talked about here, because the oblivious and curt sales staff had nothing to offer me yesterday when I went to book, except "Sir it's not there on the i20". Going to wait for 10-15 days to book i.e. till diwali month, since it'll be almost a year since launch and I expect discounts then. Can easily afford to wait, and given that my cars run 100k+ and are kept for 6-7 years minimum, I don't care about resale due to buying at the end of the year.

A question here. Are Hyundai warranty repairs available at all Hyundai authorized service centers or only at Hyundai dealers' workshops?

I took 5 year extended warranty on both my Santro AT and the Getz at the time of purchase. Seeing the posts in this thread, now I feel I made a good decision. If nothing else, I feel it adds to the 'peace of mind' factor.
