Will the 1.2 i10 replace the 1.1 engine right now?

Ram, can you give us some hints on splash or A-star ?

I don't think they're going to replace the 1.1 with the 1.2. Mainly because the engine will add extra cost & the i10 is not exactly the most VFM car in its segment as is. They wouldn't want to while away the run way success that the car has become.

Looks like the splash is a winner hands down.

Now the real deal for Maurti would be to get the prices right since many feel i10 is overpriced. Once this is done, i think splash will create a splash in the indian market also
What remains to be seen is the pricing and which motor it has. As per the rule we have in India, the petrol motor has to be less than 1.2ltr. And the splash I have referred to is 1242cc. This will be also a deciding factor.
Splash overall is appreciated for its build and features along with space.

If they dont bring in that 1.2, then possibly Splash will have poor performance given its weight and size. Also the positioning will, IMO, be a trouble.
Lets hope that S.buddhraj gives some clarification.

I don't think the 1.2 will replace 1.1 engine. The 1.1 can serve as a replacement for Santro while they continue the 1.2 side-by-side,possibly to counter splash. By the way, Is santro production stopped? or still there?

Given Santro's sales (even though they have been massively hit by the i10), I dont think the production will be stopped. Given Santro's excellent VFM nature, people do opt for it as they consider it roomier than the i10.

By saying roomier do you mean the interior space?

I thought the i10 was roomier since i10 is 1595mm wide whereas santro is 1525mm only

The UK Splash is 87bhp. Cannot expect that to offered in India. Likely to be the 1.1 with 65-70bhp. Else Swift will take a beating.

I think Santro may continue through the LPG and CNG route or perhaps with just one variant.

Most Probably the 1.1 will be sold along with 1.2. So its like we we have two engine options.

Santro will continue. It is still doing good sales, despite being beaten by i10 very badly.

Yes, they cant bring that 1.2 and also the 1.2 is 1242 cc, well ahead of the 1200cc barrier limit in India.
Correct, Santro will continue.

No, just as i10 is successor to Santro, i20 is successor to Getz.

According to ACI :-
i10 Dlite & Era will have 1.1 engine and Magna will have 1.2 l engine.
There will be two more trims above Magna and mostly top end will be a
sports version. ACI claims that 1.2 will be priced only Rs.10,000 more than 1.1
that would be great if Hyundai can pull that off.

I am skeptical about how they can pull off the 1.2 costing just 10k more than the existing model, since the Excise difference alone would be more than that.

If it comes with just 10K more than 1.1, then they have a winner with even more sales. Almost a perfect car.
But this also means that if one wants to get 1.2 engine, then he/she will have only one trim available with that engine, and this is not good.

I am also not sure that they will come with 10K price increase. And as karanraheja has informed ( form ACI ) that the engine will be available in only one trim, means company wants to increase sales of Magna trim.

@aaagoswami- I think you are mistaken here. I had mentioned that
i10 Magna will get 1.2 l and there will be two other trims above that
and even they will get the 1.2 l. The top end model that Hyundai is planning
is i10 Sports. If its priced only Rs.10,000 more than 1.1 then i shall take back my words about i10 being overpriced for 1.1 l.
