More than anything this will rejuvinate the Getz.

I wonder how a salesman will describe 2 engines which are 100 cc apart.

And nice to see someone talk about CO2 emissions.
Tyres look like a disappointment as in the tech specs of their website it shows the same 155/80 R13 size for both iRDE and Kappa models. Buyers may need to keep this in mind.

Seen another article somewhere that i20 (Getz replacement?) will be launched with the same 1.2 Kappa as well in addition to bigger engines. So the focus may be on other aspects such as space and comfort.

it's a shame the thing looks like a dog (in the figurative sense)how this got the car of the year from multiple magazines is beyond me. guess the general indian consumer doesn't value style at all.

Good point buddy. I totally agree with you. People with 3.5-4 lacs budget will surely look @ VFM , fuel efficiency. I don have to crib about i10 anymore ( thank god they launched a 1.2 for it. i always felt it needed a 1.2). Good move by Hyundai.

Which one, Bull/Terriers/Boxers/Dash/Pug/Poodle?

I too hate the looks but its a nice package. Wondering how the top end with kit will look with red interior and sort.

In the image I have posted, the tyres were 155/80.
They have not made any improvements here.

How will it rejuvinate the Getz ?

The salesmen would have a tough time. Looks like either the Santro is ending its duty or the 1.1 will have to be discontinued. It will be really tough.

^^LOL!! I remember the salesman telling me that Getz 1.1 would give me 13-14 kmpl in the city. When i told him it gives less mileage than the 1.3 he seemed to think i was nuts!

On a side note, why oh why have hyundai not launched the 1.2 engine in the getz? with the excise cut they can finally compete with the swift on price. I for one would have gone for it instead of the swift d we just bought

This is good news. 80PS in this small car really makes it a performance car. But, I am not liking that 155 tyre, they could have given a better ones at least in this variant.

Yes it does look like so, I had bought the Magna last month only. But I bought the Magna option with ABS, Airbag. Safety is one place I did not want to compromise and Magna(O) was a bit of a stretch for me, it was almost 4.8 ex-showroom and 5.3 on-road.

Now I see that there is no Magna option, all the safety features has been shifted to Asta, the new top-end model. From what I have seen in todays papers, the price range is 3.99-5.43. This would have put the Asta out of my budget and I would have been forced to buy a Magna with no safety features.

It may look like I am trying to justify(to myself) my purchase, but for me safety is of paramount importance than more HP and speed.

Hyundai Motors would do well to discontinue Getz petrol with the 1.1 and 1.3 Litre engines and replace them with the new 1.2 litre kappa engine. This will give Hyundai the economies of scale , reduce SKU's and one engine ( 1.3 Litre) and yet meet the small car norms.

More than the i10 , the Getz needs the new engin to compete with the likes of Swift which has been outselling it 6:1.
