Just by following the posts of other members on this thread. For a car costing Rs. 5.5 lakhs ex-showroom (which is what's mentioned in Hyundai press releases), many had posted that it will cost about 6 or 6.2 lakhs on-road?

If the excise and VAT are already included in the ex-showroom price, then what are the charges in addition to it that constitute the on-road price?

^ 6K + a few small features like below that are extra in Magna iRDE, for some people to whom the only difference in the engine apart from the name would be 1.2 - 1.1 = 0.1 :-) , it might be a good reason to buy.

it is due to Insurance, road tax ( even upto 18% of ex showroom cost in karnataka), incidental charges of dealer, extended warranty cost etc etc

looking at the pricing, I would be eager to see how does hyundai price i20 which as per Autocar is in getz and swift's range. Also dont these prices intrude getz territory.

I searched a bit, and it seems that the ex-showroom car price for the Indian model includes 12% excise tax, 12.5% VAT, some 3% educational tax + natural calamity tax. So, to compare the price of the Indian model with the UK model, I need to deduct 27% from the ex-showroom price. The taxes other than VAT are a day robbery in India if you ask me.

The UK model costs Rs. 4,56,056 (which includes shipping costs from India) excluding taxes. The Indian model costs Rs. 3,42,936. The UK model costs almost Rs. 1,00,000 more for shipping from India and all the other extra goodies it has.

This still doesn't negate the fact that the Indian model has terrible safety features. It has a sunroof, but no head rest for the rear middle seat passenger or immobiliser? Hyundai's got their priorities messed up. They should at least provide these extra gadgets as an option or in a higher trim level.

You haven't read the statement clearly, again - they say "no diesel plans at the moment." Those last three words are important. The report states facts, not speculation. If you have inside information on the diesel, good for you. This report is about what was said at the launch, and not about what the writer feels their plans are.

Finally, you have realised that Hyundai is not differentiating Indian consumers in terms of price!
Coming to feature differences: Before a model or variant is made available in the market, every manufacturer does a clinic with the consumers and with the distributors. And then the the manufacturer takes a call based on their feedback. This type of market survey is called an image clinic. You may please speak to any agencies who specialize in these type of clinics to know more.
Probably Indian consumers, during such a clinic did not see a necessity for the 3rd headrest at all, instead they would have given more priority of some other feature. (how many cars in India, by the way have the 3rd Headrest? except for the CBU/SKD cars)
So what I want to say here is that an individuals remark is not what any manufacturer will consider, but if its a groups remark, its taken more seriously.
Any way, lets see how the i10 kappa does and then draw conclusions.
Requesting all team-bhp ians to give more factual statements than just roumors & biased perceptions. I think this site is very good for any enthusiast and requires more correct informations than just gossips
