Re: Shell fuel price discussion thread !!

Rs. 5.6 more than PSU rate here in Ahmedabad, and I still stick to Shell. The quality is much better. FE wise Shell = COCO HP Pump, but overall performance wise Shell is better. Shell Mineral oil-petrol combo still good as new after 7.5k km (for a 97k Santro). Avg - approx 17 with 100% a/c in 60-40 Highway-city drive (500 km/week).

Suggested a colleague to shift and he is of the same opinion. Getting Shell is an investment towards better performance and maintenance.

Re: Shell fuel price discussion thread !!

Just filled up Petrol in my Altis at Shell today and almost fainted seeing the bill. Rate is now Rs.80.5/litre for regular unleaded.

The car took Rs.3800 worth of fuel.

Re: Shell fuel price discussion thread !!

I just bought my first diesel car last week and happily went for a full tank topup to the Shell outlet near my home. It was 61+ and I was still happy as I was obviously comparing it with the petrol price. But, I was shocked to see the price board at a Bharat Petroleum outlet the next day as I was going to the office. It said - 45+! Difference in Petrol price at Shell was always less than 2-3 rupees.. but this is huge. Not sure why people would still go to Shell for filling Diesel :-/

Correct. That's the price of diesel if it were not subisidised. For those who still do not want to take a chance with not-so-trustworthy fuel, can fill up at Shell for diesel. In my 6 years of riding/driving around Bangalore, I was fortunate to see just 2 vehicles tanking up diesel at Shell. One, an LC200 at VM road. And another, Optra at the whitefield outlet.

Yes. Diesel from Shell does not make economic sense at all. Have also seen complaints on this forum of loss in pickup, mileage when using Shell dlesel. I guess, their diesel is not tuned to Indian cars and running, or maybe its too good, and our cars prefer the PSU diesel.

Petrol was the real shocker- 80.50 Rs. per litre yesterday. I was like
But still prefer Shell for the bike. 2-3 litres at a time does not make much difference between PSU petrol.

A little above Rs. 83/-- for the super unleaded that I filled near Graphite India outlet on Sunday morning.

Just around 2 hours ago...The highest I've ever paid for a tankful of fuel!!!

My company somehow doesn't seem to notice this change when giving me pay hikes

Re: Shell fuel price discussion thread !!

Ah.. the highest rate ever heard of. Sorry, no offense, but that gives me some happiness to me for the extra money I shelled out for my decision to upgrade to a diesel sedan.

Same here. I filled up a couple of days back @ 80.5 /l. At this price, it makes a lot of sense to fill Speed from a good BP pump. There is no sense to tanking up @Shell till price gap comes down (PSU going up or Shell going down).

Yes. It makes sense to go for a good PSU pump. For a full tank of about 40 litres, you save Rs.280 (Rs.80.5-Rs.73), which is roughly 4 litres of petrol or 44 kms more to empty. However, if you get even 1 km more per litre from Shell as compared to the PSU pump, it still makes sense to continue with Shell.

Re: Shell fuel price discussion thread !!

Went to fill in shell this morning, and was shocked at the 80.5/litre. Considering the last time i filled 30th of March it was about 78. I dunno if this or the sedate driving gives me the additional 2+kmpl
currently i am getting anywhere in the range of 11.5-12kmpl in bangalore city traffic.

Re: Shell fuel price discussion thread !!

last time i went to fill at shell was around two weeks back, there were 2-3 cars filling petrol but the diesel station was free. I parked my car and the attendant didn't even bother to come. I came out of my car looked at the meter and it said Rs 61.something . I sat in the driver seat wore seat belt and drove off.

Difference of Rs 6-7 is bearable but 15 not chance. My car will never have shell diesel in it .

Re: Shell fuel price discussion thread !!

I wish I had seen this thread a couple of days ago
Just filled my car with shell normal and was like shocked to see the bill. @ 80.50 it is very expensive. Guess it is about time to get back to PSU's again.
