why not; look at the kind of difference in state taxes we have on fuel; in Maharashtra itself you can see the diff in fuelling in Mumbai & Thane; infact when i tanked up in a BP pump between Satara and Pune I was shocked to see the board stating 53 change where as in Bangalore at BP pumps I pay 56.88

Under-recoveries of OMCs as of today were calculated at Rs 98,512 crore (Rs 985.12 billion) and this will now increase to Rs 1,04,310 crore (Rs 1,043.10 billion).

Prior to the reduction, state-run oil firms were earning a profit of Rs 14.89 a litre on petrol and Rs 3.03 on a litre of diesel. However, they continue to sell kerosene at a loss of Rs 17.26 a litre and Rs 148.89 on every LPG cylinder.
This is what is mentioned on the above given link. Losses still not recovered. Phew. Majority of the price/litre we pay goes to the government as taxes.

Thanks for the update. Unfortunately I just filled the day before the drop.

But it is good to know that Shell is matching the price drops.

Good news! The better news is that we can expect Shell to drop prices by small amounts going forward. I also think it's time they brought their normal petrol back.

Thanks for this update zerocritical!

Great news that Shell has reduced its prices in Bangalore. Using Shell petrol has led to an increase in the mileage of my car by 2 kms per litre. It sure is worth the extra money, not only because of the mileage but also because the engine runs so much more smoother.

Cheers,
gpa

Very much TRUE, I could notice with Shell Petrol within few kilometers travelling engine becomes so smooth and extra FE.
