Oh! When was this announcement made? I traveled 3 weeks back and it was open and I filled fuel there. Last week had gone by bus. So may be it is not open now.

But closing all Petrol bunks at 10 PM is a bad idea in my opinion. What if you had to travel in an emergency?

I never heard that bunks should close at 10.00 PM. The Shell bunk here at Chromepet is open 24 hours.

I guess they have must have increased prices at the other Shell pumps too! I often fill up at Shell in Chinchwad and the old Bombay-Pune highway.

In Chennai, the Diesel costs 36.70 bucks as of yesterday (or was it the day before)? Something about not getting subsidy- but then I heard it from the assistant who filled my car- not so reliable.

Nonetheless, I would still be filling there- atleast for now.

Shell Diesel Price Increased !!

Hi,

Today i went to fill up my vehicle and was shocked to see the price of the normal diesel shoot up from 35.54 Rs a litre to 37.8 Rs a litre !!

The rest of the pumps (HP,BP etc) are still selling at 35.54 Rs a litre.

Any thoughts on this pricing ? Is this legal ?

Rgds

You bet it is legal. Shell follows true free market policies with their prices as they do abroad. Their prices are not subsidised/controlled by the Govt as in case of HP/IOC/BP. Therefore prices can differ from controlled prices at PSU outlets.

Hmmm. when the fuel price drops, go to shell for the quality . When Shell raises the prices, go to OilPSU outlets for the price - Simple, ain't it?

IMHO Shell's retail prices are also subsidized. They were matching the PSU's prices (not initially, though they did later on)- which means they did subsidize. Not sure if they are getting a subsidy from the govt.- highly likely. And not sure what is the reason behind this marginal hike now...

Anyone with a better idea?

went to my regular Shell bunk on Bombay Highway and got a shock- between teh last fill and yesterday, the price has gone up from 51.25 to 53.1 per ltr.!! has this happened in other cities as well? Its back to IOC COCO for me now at hi-tec city- a 3.1 Rs. price difference from PSU pumps is too much!
