Despite my repeated attempts to get the message conveyed to the higher ups through their pumps have not been successful, Ganesan sir, may be you should also start from your end "Siru Thuli Peru Vellam".
The difference is Rs 1.25 only. I am sure it will be about the same if you compare the price of premium petrol as well.

I remember reading somewhere they procure the fuel from Mangalore refinery, from where it is pumped (and not trucked) to Bangalore, and then transported to Chennai. Hence the higher price for Shell fuel in Chennai, all other PSU fuels are cheaper here.

Sir the taxes are higher in Karnataka by Rs.2.50 which means we should be actually paying lesser even if fuel transportation costs are taken into account.

That is a point. It would be useful if we know whether the fuel is transported here by road /rail/tanker ship.

re: Shell fuel price discussion thread. Update: Going down cheaper than PSU's.

Today I went to shell petrol pump and I saw the price is same with the other GOVT run fuel company. So does this means slowly our UPA GOVT implemented the Market Price to the Petrol and Diesel.
As per my knowledge Shell does not get Subsidy. So if the BP/Indian = Shell price then GOVT is no more giving any subsidy. They are just taking the TAX out of it :(

I spoke to the manager of the Shell pump last evening. He says the fuel is transported by road from Mangalore to Chennai and that alone adds to the cost here. He was unable to say how much it costs to transport.

I doubt if they are transporting from Mangalore. I was told that they are transporting by road from Bangalore when I checked with them a few months back. What I was told by the folks at GST Road pump was the price is decided on the basis of sales volume. Even otherwise I doubt if the fuel transportation cost would be Rs.3.00 per litre.

In the days when Reliance was very active they used to have a system of one terminal per state. The Palamaner pump used to get fuel from Kakinada and the price differential was not so huge.
