May be the quantity can be fudged, but with what can it possibly be adulterated? CNG has not reached Chennai yet.

Shell near Nashik Phata in Pune: Rs.72.95 for regular petrol.
Today will be the last time until prices become comparable to other retailers (i.e. within 10%).

re: Shell fuel price discussion thread. Update: Going down cheaper than PSU's.

I talked to the shell pump manager and its apparently priced based on what stock they bought. They have bought when crude was at a high and its still not down. They too know customers will flock more to PSU pumps now, not that it makes a huge difference IMHO but then its a fact.
If i fill twice in a month( 30L) then i pay almost R 250 more, which i think gets adjusted as their quality is higher than normal PSU pumps. Wondering if we will see R 55 days again in Bangalore( which was just a month back!!)

Filled Shell super @Rs 74.00 today. Normal is Rs 71.50 and diesel is Rs 56.55.

Now, which will be the best LPG kit for Alto? Does Maruti offer factory kits?

Was driving back from the airport today when I spotted a Placard on a Shell pump reading "Petrol : Rs. 71.10/-". I don't understand what point they are making since the diff. in PSU petrol and Shell is still ~6 bucks!

In Chennai Shell Super 74.xx whereas BP Speed is 64.10. That is a huge difference. I took a sigh and moved from Shell towards BP. Shell quality is far superior but it has started hurting the pocket.

Last week it was 71.45 so they want people to know that the price has actually reduced by 35paise
When rising it rises in rupees but while reducing it reduces only in paises...why is this??

If HP Power/BP Speed/IOC Xtrapremium, in that order, can be sourced from good pumps, they will be as good as Shell Super. And a good Rs 10.00 per litre cheaper. But only if you locate a very good pump.

It had gone up to Rs.72.95! (Pune). It has to go below Rs.70 for me to reconsider. Just filled up today at BP for Rs.63.19. I do over 2000km a month. The price difference is too large for me to ignore, no matter how good the petrol.

The difference was too much for me to ignore too. Unfortunately, I have now given up on shell and will continue with HP/IOC at 61.1 rupees outside octroi limits.

I have not tried BP's Speed 97 for sometime, but I am sure it's below Shell Super's Rs. 74/litre.
Whatever the quantity and quality, the price is preposterous.

@Sajo: How much does Shell petrol cost at the outlet on the Mum-Bangalore bypass Vs. the one in Hinjewadi? Is there any difference?
Also, can you suggest any reputable HP/BP/IOC outlet outside octroi limits (near Hinjewadi)?

Shreeps, never filled from the shell bunk on NH4 bypass, though I believe rates between the one in Hinjewadi and that should be same.
I find the first HP bunk (near wakad bridge) to be comparatively okay, as also the newly opened IOC across the road. Nothing beats shell though! As discussed in Pune Petrol Pumps thread, others seem to concur.
Please shell, bring it down to within +/- 5 rupees of state bunks and entice me back to your bunk!

re: Shell fuel price discussion thread. Update: Going down cheaper than PSU's.

Was shocked last week when I tanked up for my new Thunderbird at Shell and paid ~Rs 71.5 /liter. Got stressed out that petrol price has risen again till I filled up the Swift at a BP bunk this week at ~ Rs 65.5/liter. Shell is out for me for the foreseeable future.
