re: Shell fuel price discussion thread. Update: Going down cheaper than PSU's.

Guys,

What is the difference in quality between the 2 versions of petrol sold by Shell? Any ideas? When i asked the attendant, they say some additives are added.

That is true. The premium version is of the same octane rating along with some additives and detergents to clean your engine.

Check if your car really needs the premium version, because for my car, it's recommended to avoid premium petrol.

Bye Bye Shell. Back to "Pure for Sure" COCO Stations. Current Bangalore price for normal petrol: 65.66.

I fill from the one in Jeevan Beema Nagar, Opp to the Traffic Police Station. I get the best mileage from this particular pump, so I believe that its the best out of all pumps I've visited when it comes to the authenticity of the Meter Readings.

PS: Ask the attendant to lock the nozzle handle if you're filling for anything above Rs.300

re: Shell fuel price discussion thread. Update: Going down cheaper than PSU's.

Shell super is Rs 74.00 and normal Rs 71.50 in Chennai. HP power is Rs 64.xx and normal Rs 61.xx. But I am sticking with Shell for the car and am tryig out Power for the bike. If bike seems ok, will try it for car as well.

But after experiencing Shell service for over four years, I hate to enter PSU bunks now.

+1 to that. Whenever I enter a PSU bunk, whatever the person does seems suspicious and I feel I have to be very watchful of anything the pump person is doing.

Shell service has set a standard of sorts.

As much as I appreciate your passion for 'quality fuel', does that justify a premium of Rs 10? I doubt! Also cars like Swift and Alto run just fine on normal fuel. If I had direct injection-turbocharged car (VW TSI engines) or a sport scar , then I might have hesitated with the normal PSU fuels.

With COCO, there is no compromise on quality (unless the PSU company itself is supplying sub standard fuel) or quantity (unless the furl pump staff is secretly siphoning off fuel- A scenario which looks unlikely). So, MeThink that you'll do just fine with any COCO.

re: Shell fuel price discussion thread. Update: Going down cheaper than PSU's.

I can't blame Shell or other pvt players. The government is keeping the prices low in spite of stating that they would not regulate the price of petrol. For the time being the COCO outlets seem to be a smarter choice for consumers.

Just back from my trip to TN, KL. The price of normal petrol was around Rs 62.x per litre. None of the Reliance pumps are selling fuel (they are still open). I guess they are waiting for the government to announce the price hike once the assembly elections are completed around the country.

Can anybody tell me what's the current price of shell normal diesel in Bangalore? Its been ages since I even looked at a shell pump, let alone entering it and enquire about the prices!

Shell regular is now Rs. 76.45 per litre in Hyderabad (up from 75.95).

I don't understand how/why Shell is increasing prices when the international crude prices are going down!

Shell Regular Unleaded and Shell Premium Unleaded are both 91 octane fuels with the latter containing additives.

I was a bit surprised when i tanked up at Shell yesterday. I was hoping for a small dip in the prices as i recollect some news channel ticker that showed a dip in crude oil prices by a few $$.

IIRC Premium is around 79 bucks and regular is 72.95 bucks.

The difference between the two won't be more than Rs 2.50/litre or thereabouts.

Yes Aditiya, regular is 72.95 Filled up yesterday at shell Bellary road, but the boy told me 75.95 for Premium. Where did you hear aobut 79??
Even I expected small dip in prices but what a surprise.
The Manager on duty told me that we can expect another price revision in 10-14 days.

And Government doesn't want to increase Diesel prices.
