Rs 65/- last week at shell bangalore!!! AFAIK it was 66.65.
If it really was 65, where was it?
Paid around 65.XX , not 65. I usually fill at the outlet next to Uma theater. Last fill was around 10 days back.

@ Vasanthn21,
Thata a nice sheet. Did you compline this?
If we get something like this for the other outlets, It'll be a nice comparision to make.
If we superimpose the graph from other companies, it'll be something like an "x" I believe.

Except when the petrol in question is "Speed 97".
@Gansan,
I always thought that premium was high octane petrol. Since I always fill "Unleaded", I never knew that "Speed97" and "Premium" were different.

Do you have any idea what these additives are-I couldn't find it in the shell website.

re: Shell fuel price discussion thread. Update: Going down cheaper than PSU's.

Yesterday, Filled up petrol worth 500 bucks. Shocked to see the price per litre is Rs. 69.5 for normal unleaded petrol in Shell pump at KSB chowk. It was just Rs. 68 three days ago.
When asked the person who swipes the card, he says ' saab, har 15 din mein badalne wala hai'.
I am filling from this pump since Oct'10 as it is on my way back home from office.
I feel now its high time to re think of buying HP petrol from Autolines pump on the University road, Pune. It would be definately cheaper than shell and its worth going to that place and fill the tank when ever I go there. This would infact save money and I can even earn points on my ICICI card.
Need to work out the distance and then calculate the actual amount of savings.

Shell super/HP Power/BP Speed/IOC Xtra premium are fuels with the same RON as their respective normal (unleaded) counterparts, but contain some additives - probably detergents - to clean the deposits and keep the injectors clean. None of the websites spell out what it is and in case of Shell it is a proprietory item. But all the PSU companies seem to buy it from a single source. This was told me by a relative who is an engineer with Chevron in Chennai.

If you are using any petrol additive for your car, remember that it should not be used if you fill premium fuel of any brand.

Speed 97 contains the same additive, but in addition is also high octane (97 RON).

This is what the HP website says, without spelling out what the actual additive is:
Power - Our Offerings - Retail(Petrol Pumps etc.) :: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited

re: Shell fuel price discussion thread. Update: Going down cheaper than PSU's.

Price was down to Rs.67.95 (normal petrol) today morning at Chennai. Not sure this reduction in price is due to the sales tax reduction by TN govt.

But considering the crude oil price today ($106), we can expect this could go up in the coming days...

In the morning news they told TN government reduced the sales tax by 3%. Will this applicable to all companies including Shell or only for PSUs. Want to check the price on BP to decide on whether to go back from next week :(. Any idea about what will be the price after the sales tax reduction and from when it will be effective?

Shell regular unleaded petrol is Rs. 72.25/ltr in Hyderabad! I've been so used to filling regularly at Shell these days, that I do not even know the regular price of petrol at PSU pumps anymore.

Somebody "drive" some sense into me!

@Gansan,
Thankyou very much for your clarification.

"Shell normal" price on saturday in bangalore was 68.25 per litre.

It was 66.65 last week. I feel Rs100 per litre is not too far away.
Hopefully my salary will also be hiked at the same rate

Shell unleaded price increased by Rs 3.20!

I was in for a shock when I went to fill up today. Shell unleaded now costs Rs 71.45. I had to fill up because I was in a hurry. I'll pick a PSU outlet for my next fill.

Sigh
I think i will start taking the office cab again.
And work from home more often, to reduce the strain on my back from the commutes in Sumo.

Ok, now I'm worried!

I filled at a HPCL pump on sunday at Rs. 55.65/l. Going by what everyone has been posting about Shell petrol being ~ Rs. 70/l, I'm wondering if the machine wasn't showing the correct price or PSU petrol price has come down. Worst case - I was duped in some way.

@ CBlazer : Thats a shocker. Now i am really worried. It was around 68 only a fortnight ago.

re: Shell fuel price discussion thread. Update: Going down cheaper than PSU's.

It's heart breaking to fill fuel @ Shell,
700Rs, will not even get me 10L of petrol, How bad.
Shell Normal Price increased to 71.45Rs/L since yesterday night.
Super price is around 73.X5Rs/L
As I was in hurry so had to fill 10L of fuel just now.
International Oil prices have been reduced by 2-3% , this is what I read in News paper yesterday, still Shell has increased the price.
Till the price is reduced BYE BYE SHELL...
