Shell increases prices again!

Filled up at Shell yesterday. Unleaded now costs Rs 75.95. I was quite surprised by the increase.

Since they had already increased prices when crude oil prices went up, I was hoping the prices would either drop a bit or not change at all (given the crude oil prices have actually dropped). But Shell seems to have different ideas.

For once, petrol is cheaper in Pune! (B'lore is 75.95.)

Considering the rumoured hike, which could take petrol to 75+, Shell would be well-placed since international crude prices have not gone up since long.

Firstly, decide if you need PSU premium at all; most sedans/hatches don't "need" premium fuel.

It's up to you to decide if that 500/month is worth it and also how further you are willing to go for Shell.

A diff. up to Rs. 2-3 is fine for me to line-up at Shell, not more than that.
Diff now is Rs 5. For normal PSU vs shell normal the mileage difference i have seen is SURELY 1km/liter approx
This means that for my running of 600kms a month, i need to fill 50 (@12)liters of normal PSU and 46( @13) for shell
Cost of PSU is 71 now, which means i pay 3550
Cost of Shell is 76 now, which means i pay 3496!!! Makes sense to fill shell for sure now. Not to mention that i am assured of quantity too.

I'd made that post when the diff. was 10 bucks. With a diff. now at ~4, I guess Shell isn't such a bad idea. Better fuel and reportedly better mileage.

Shell should open up more outlets; for someone living in say Koramangala/BTM, the closest Shell is about 10km away; does't make sense.

A lot of people are already going towards Shell; Shell needs to capitalize on that.

Just hope Shell doesn't announce another hike.

re: Shell fuel price discussion thread. Update: Going down cheaper than PSU's.

The advertisement banners at Shell bunks are back with the price of petrol. When the gap gets too high, the banner disappears and when the gap between the price reduces the banners are back.

Nevertheless, now a days the Shell bunks are deserted. I hope the IOC, BP, HPCL, IBP bunks also head the same way. People Go Green.

Filled petrol at Shell yesterday and the price was 71.72 at Whitefield, so it looks like Shell has dropped the prices

If this is true, which i am sure it is, only missed by a few days, but great that NOW SHELL IS THE preferred vendor no doubt! Kudos to them to really behave in line with the crude prices! Going to fill up asap!
