BS IV petrol is 75.25, BS III is 74.60. BS III grade petrol cannot be sold within BS IV compliant cities.

Re: Shell fuel price discussion thread !!

Which credit card has a partnership with Shell for the fuel surcharge waiver? I have Citibank for Indian Oil and my wife sometimes uses her ICICI Card at the HP bunks, but both of us prefer to use Shell and we keep having to pay surcharge when swiping the cards. We want to know which card provides us with this facility in the Shell bunks.

Anyone with this information pls?

You get credit cards that waive off surcharge on all fuel spends above Rs.400, irrespective of the bunk / fuel company. I have an Indian oil Citi card too and the only advantage is the extra points when filling at Indian oil bunks. My other card is a HDFC Platinum chip and I've never paid fuel surcharge (You are charged a very small portion ~ 1- 5 Rs if the swiping machine is not of the same bank. That's it)

I use my SBI Gold Mastercard while filling up at Shell. While fuel surcharge is debited initially, it is reversed within a day or two. Current price is Rs.75.30 at Shell Rajajinagar

I was just looking at the credit cards of HDFC and the cards for Visa Signature and World Mastercard have 2.5% waiver on all fuel. Does that still limit me to >Rs.400 purchases only? My Scooter will never go above Rs.330 since it is a small tank (Wego).

Nope. It has to be more than 400. Since you say you are filling for ~Rs.300 carrying that much cash shouldn't really be a problem, instead of paying the fuel surcharge.

On another note, I wonder why shell petrol is still marginally higher than PSU's. They would probably make more money by selling to more people at the same price than to fewer people at a higher price.

This is strange, i just did a full tank today morning 9AM at one of the shell outlets and the price was still 75.25. I was told they are still not aware of price reduction.

Typically shell updates web pages later. Prices at pumps are updated first.
I am not sure if they overcharged me !!

Yes I was actually quite surprised to see the webpage updated so soon!

You should have paid around 35 rupees more (assuming you have filled 35 litres for a tankfull)

If you have time, you can go and ask for a refund.
35 rupees is not a big amount but you should not be overcharged.

Knowing shell, I feel you'll get it back

Yeah, I dont want to waste my energy for 30-40rs. May be they get instructions bit late. or may be finishing early morning peak hour sales(hence profit)

I guess if they have reverted the price to normal by evening, then i will think of it as bad timing. They better not be displaying old price still in the evening else I am going to take action against the outlet.
