re: Shell in India (fuel, lubes, outlets)

I started using SULP in my Splendor when the odo was around 60k KM. I rebuilt the engine at 104k KM, but the silencer was not touched. 8k KM after engine rebuild (112k KM after buying the bike), my mechanic said it was time to carry out the silencer decarb which was pending and I gave the permission.

He had a surprised look when he brought the bike back. Very little carbon was found when they cut open the silencer, and the "decarb specialist" himself remarked it was a waste of time to have opened it up!

I do swear by it!

Btw I filled SULP today @ Rs 84.80 per litre (Rs 88.80 last week)!

What is the current shell diesel price in Bangalore? The rates in their website haven't been updated since 1st July. So, not sure if the prices there are current.

The diesel price at Shell is 66.80. Saw the price when I refuelled the bike on Sunday.

Vittal Mallya road pump would be supplying Euro 4

re: Shell in India (fuel, lubes, outlets)

Diesel rates have always been 4 to 5rs higher at Shell than the Indian pumps. The one at Whitefield-Hoskote road shows 66.7 rupees to the liter

re: Shell in India (fuel, lubes, outlets)

I remember seeing a banner near the OMR shell couple of days back about reduced Diesel rates, I do not know if this was a special scheme but i missed seeing the rate as I was on the right lane.

It was 66.30 for diesel last friday at Bellandur outlet. I guess they sell Euro 4.

In Pune at Hinjewadi pump, Shell diesel costs Rs 70 per ltr. Whenever I fill up Shell diesel in my Figo, I observe engine noise reduces as compared to normal diesel. When windows are rolled up I feel like I am driving a petrol car! But I don't see any increase in kmpl. Indeed it went down slightly.

re: Shell in India (fuel, lubes, outlets)

Shell diesel indeed makes a difference to pickup and smoothness. After the initial hiccup to get used to pure good quality diesel after being on a diet of not-so-pure diesel for more than 50K kms, our i20 has become quieter and more responsive . As long as the difference is less than 200 bucks for a tankfull i would stick to shell

With Diesel deregulation round the corner I expect Shell an IOC and co within a few paise of one another.

re: Shell in India (fuel, lubes, outlets)

The difference between Shell Diesel and PSU is Rs.2.85 per litre. For a 40L fill, the difference is approx Rs.114/-, which is not significant at all.

However, my experience with Shell diesel has not been positive so far. While quantity was fine, I could feel a definite drop in power and pickup. My Rapid was struggling and seemed like it was pulling a bullock cart. I switched back to PSU and have not had any issues. I always fill from the Bowring petrol pump or the BP COCO near Fathima bakery. No hanky panky from the attendants and acceptable mileage from both places.
