2008 Audi A4 releasing July, Bookings Started! Edit: Now Launched

Hi all, Finally next month the all new, superb 2008 Audi A4 is being launched!

Here is what Audi has to say :

Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, will launch its new Audi A4 sedan in July this year

Audi’s completely new developed luxury mid size sedan takes Audi into a new dimension in this segment with a more sporty and stylish design and is ready to order now in the exclusive Audi dealerships.
Audi India Managing Director Mr. Benoit Tiers expresses, “The new Audi A4 will be a very important model for India and we hope that this award-winning car will take the hearts of our customers by storm! The Audi A4 holds a special significance with respect to achieve our proposed goal of more than 1,000 sold cars in India by the end of this year.”

At an overall length of 4.70 metres, the new A4 is a large saloon. It boasts a substantial, powerful road presence. Its 480-litre boot and the legroom for rear passengers are larger than of any of its direct competitors.

Inside the new A4, the ambience is spacious and full of light, as would be expected in a much larger model. It embodies the traditional Audi strengths - a distinguished appearance, no-compromise high-quality workmanship with close attention to detail and logical, intuitive controls.

The Audi A4 comes with high standard equipment to India, including features previously known only from upper segments. Audi brings the Multi Media Interface (MMI) as available option to the Audi A4, additionally the Optical Parking System with rear-view camera and the Bang & Olufsen Sound System.

The system Audi Drive Select will give the customers ‘three cars in one’ by the possibility to select three different modes for agility and comfort. Audi Drive Select ensures that the vehicle characteristics are adjusted on the driving situation, road conditions or personal requirements.

The new Audi A4 is being launched in India first with a choice of two refined, powerful engines - the refined 2.0 TDI multitronic with a power-output range of 105 kW (143 bhp) and the 3.2 FSI tiptronic Quattro with 195 kW (265 bhp). Both of them use the direct fuel injection principle - FSI technology for the petrol engine and the common-rail system for the TDI unit.

Orders for the new Audi A4, who won already several awards in Germany and Europe, can be placed from now onwards in the exclusive Audi dealerships in Delhi, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Bangalore. The prices for the Audi A4 start at 2,900,000 INR (Ex-showroom Mumbai without C.S.T., transportation etc.)

I have been waiting for its release, lets see how it comes out! Its got 5 star Safety rating in European Safety tests, and is an allround superb vehicle!

The best part of this car is the Audi Drive select, where u can make it as comfy as a Merc C Class, and as rigid as a BMW 320d improving the Handling or the Ride comfort.

I hope they give the MMI as option for the 2.0 tdi model too! heard that its only for the 3.2 FSI model.

but they new one is a great allrounder. bmw and merc will have to launch something to compete against the 3.2 cuz IMO the 325 and the c230 dont give it any competition.

To anyone thinking of getting one of these avoid the tiptronic option. It may look fancy but they are problamtic and costly to put right.

The 3.2 AWD sounds wild for sure but I guess a lot of people in that segment would rather go in for a nice Diesel.

Well, this model sure will make waves, i think. Its a totally new design, a killer looking one! and its almost as big as the E-class! the most spacious and longest in this segment.

Also looks a lot more premium than the previous A4 that was a little too subtle IMO.

Sorry, yes multitronic.

Check a few VW-Audi forums and read for yourself. £4000 repair bills...no thank you. Then again if you can afford a 30lakh car maybe you do not mind paying 3lack + for a new system.

If it it similar to the B6 and B7 the the leg room for rear passengers is poor. Yes externally the car is big.

I don't think that the 3.2 is going to be below 35L on-road if not more. At that price I don't think it makes sense to a normal customer when compared to a 523/E200K.

Yes but you always get some odd bods who still buy as they think they are getting something no else has.

The A4 is just a posh mans Ford Mondeo in most other countries.

Odd bods don't make for sales successes bigman, masses (of that class) do.

Its only odd bods who are going to buy this at such a price when they can get a Merc or BMW for a similar price.

In europe Audi have always been in that gap between VW and BMW.

You think this will be a success at RS 30L + ?
