As if the Contessa was a completely new car "developed" by them.

I shudder to think of what kind of contraption HM can conjure up. I'm sure this time they must have scouted around in Eastern Europe for some old Communist roadkill on wheels, added an outside sourced engine, modernised it a bit and i'm sure they will advertise it on the front pages as the next best invention since sliced bread. Premier Automobiles was mercifully put to death a while ago. Why is this company still allowed to exist?. Just look at the miserable job they are doing with a quality product from Mitsubishi.

I think the car launch will be timed with the Linea and NNHC launch.

Why dont we give them one chance to reconstruct the business and commit to the Indian market which is last priority for them.

They had their chance. In my opinion, more than fifty years of numerous chances. I would dare say, they are representative of all that is wrong with the Indian Automotive market. They have singularly made us the laughing stock of the world by continuing to manufacture a five decade old bulbous lump of low grade tin on wheels.

I seriously hope that it is Outlander or new lancer. New lancer makes more sense.
And not with a weak 1.8, but with a muscular and torquey 2.0 engine.

I don't think it's fair to pin so much hopes on HM just to save ourselves of the imminent disappointment...
those guys are stuck in a time warp and i won't be surprised if they come with some tin can from the 70s and give it the Ambassador diesel and call it 'ALL NEW'.
Otherwise it would be some drab MUV (which i think would be the case) with 'Winger' like design which will set new standards for being sub-standard

Could it be a hybrid car from 50 year old factory?

And I'm sure whatever they end up making, its not going VFM.

Earlier Ambys used to come in Mark1, MArk 2 etc. I remember seeing a Mark IV.
Like they went retro (!!) few years back - they might again come up with a new Mark 2008, Amby with a different grill and tail lights

Either the journalist doesn't know a car from a television, or this is a cut-copy-paste job from HM's press release. Nevertheless, the statement couldn't be any more inaccurate. The Contessa was NOT designed by HM, and if this category can be included, the Lancer / Cedia / Pajero etc. have been launced in the past decade.

Something tells me that we really shouldn't be looking forward to this cars launch. This is what happened the last time they attempted to "on its own develop a car".

At last the sleeping gaint (of yester years) has woken up. Hope this will not be a redesigned Amby...

Good one GTO. What more can you expect a company like HM stuck in the pre independence era to conjure up?

What is holding Mitsubishi back from commiting to the market? This prompted me to look up Mitsu's presence in other nations. Not bad at all.

Why this stepmotherly attitude to the Indian market? Even a small country like Malaysia has really good models. I had a short drive of the Triton in KL. Felt very good and nothing like I have ever driven before.

I am not saying the SUV needs to be in India, atleast a recent model of the Lancer will make a difference. If anything comes, hope its from Mitsu and not HM.
