I have carried out a few tests on fuel consumptions. The data collection is not technically correct 100% but is sufficient to give the trend of fuel consumption. I will put the summary below:
Cosidering the style of driving by most of north Indian, I have put the driving style aggressiveness on scale of 1 to 5, 5 being north Indians driving style.
I drove the car Chandigarh>Amritsar>Chandigarh>Delhi>Chandigarh. Also drove inside the city for a two weeks. Car used Accent CRDi (2002) model.

Here are my averages:
Driving aggressiveness ( high braking, high acceleration, but not cutting across traffic, speed about 100~110 kph on highway) scale 4:
City consumption 10+ kpl Highway (payload was about 400 kg for part of driving) 16+ kpl
Techincally corrected would give about 11~12 and 17~18 as error due to petrol pumps metering and tank air venting not known.
Driving aggressiveness (little braking, slow acc, spd about 75~80 kph) scale 2:
City consumption 14+ kpl and Highway 24+ kpl.
Technically corrected estimate may give about 16~17 and 26~28 kpl respectively.
Driving aggressiveness scale 2 (highway speed 120~130 kph): Highway consumption 14+ kpl.

These are based on driving style normally faced in practice and not skilled driving to achieve high fuel economies.
The weather and road conditions remained same and aircon was always on at level 2~3.
This shows that the we can save quite a large amount for fuel if we drive soberly with scale 1. Especially at highway. Avoid overtaking. Drive steady at about 65 kph or the lowest speed comfortable in highest gear. Accelerate like you are driving the Esteem diesel and no overtaking. Keep the rightmost lane clear except when overtaking slow moving vehicles.
If anybody else had carried out similar tests, I would request him/her to put it here so that we can have a concrete database to analyse.

Dear Jat,

As much as I would like to go through your posts, it would help if You could 'Edit' previous post instead of subsequent posts in short time.
