Honda Civic 1.8 E ( Executive launched)

Hey guys the 1.8E Civic has been launched

The following are the changes

No Climate control
No Alloys
No rear armrest audio controls but cupholders there
No automatic retractable rear view mirrors only adjustable
No aux input
No ambient Light(blue)
No Rear Reading Light
No Side Protectors - Body Color with Chrome insert
No FR/RR Mud Guard - Body color
Urethane Wrapped Steering Wheel
No Chrome Door Trim
Has Fabric Upholstery
4 speakers rather than 6
1 cd changer instead of 6 cd changer

Price For Delhi Ex showroom

Civic 1.8E MT 10.80 Lakh
Civic 1.8V MT 11.96 Lakh
Civic 1.8V AT 12.66 Lakh

I think this is a smart move by Honda to create problems for the soon to Come toyota corolla and others in the same segment.

This is a smart move indeed. Whats even better is the fact that they have not removed the safety features to introduce a lower priced variant like in the case of Optra, Corolla etc.

I re-iterate my question in the other thread.

What is the price reduction with respect to the phased out S version? 50K? So all this equipment is worth 50K?

Looks like they may have reduced equipment worth more than the price reduction.

Smart move indeed.

Dont forget the 25000 duty that has been raised. So the effective difference is 75000
I guess thats ok

( how 75000 = difference is 50000 including the hike of 25000. When the 1.8S was there there was no duty and hence the difference comes out to be 50000+25000 = 75000)

Umm .. well I simply back calculated from the current prices.

V spec is 11.96
S used to be ~60K lower than V? So 11.36?
E is 10.8

So difference is 11.36-10.8 = 56K

Am I missing anything here?

I am sorry .

The prices were 25000 less ( if you remember the duties which have been added for 1500+ cc cars)

So according to new prices it would have been 11.36 but it was around 11.11
and had the 1.8E been launced without the duty, it would have been 10.8-25k = 10.55 lak.
So difference is 56k only.
I stand corrected . Thanks for bringing to notice shuvc

The E version will surely sell. I was actually expecting minor facelift . I think even Toyota had launched the Executive version in Corolla around a year back. I think Honda is gearing up with all plans to counter the New Corolla.

I just think the people with the 's' model already must be a very happy lot.

Im sure their resale value would improve considerably.

The highest price the 1.8S MT ever sold for was 10.91/-

Honda is upping the ante. Spate of launches. This segment will see some awesome competition in the months to come. Remains to be seen, who will come out trumps. I still think Toyota have what it takes to grab the lion's share.

Honda Civic strip down show not surprising!

Honda Civic strip down not surprising - counter attack of Toyota's E version of Corolla. Will boost sale for sure... specially in Travel sector/rentals.

That's still blue at least according to the pictures on the website.

On the other hand, I wonder about the pricing, when I bought mine (1.8S) last year it was 11.07 Ex.Sh in Chennai and looking to the website it says 10.97 Ex.Sh for the 1.8E, so effectively only 10,000 less now or did I miss something totally ?
