Here is the size of Splash when compared to Swift and WagonR

Splash: Length-3730;Width-1680;Height-1590 Manufacturer Data - Autocar.co.uk
WagonR: Length-3520;Width-1490;Height-1690
Swift: Length-3695;Width-1690;Height-1530

Overall, the Splash looks more roomy than the Swift. Splash is more in length and height compared to Swift and significantly more than a WagonR. We have to see how they have used space inside.

This thread was also quoted in Autoblog. For the new Suzuki A-star and Splash, and hence it's all over North America now.

Team-bhp is truly global now.

OMG, T-BHP is truly going global.

Now it looks like even developed market wants a car developed by mainly indian engineers. Cant wait to see what happens when it hits the market. Hopefully Maruti will plonk in diesel heart also.

Splash is supposed to be based on the same platform as the Swift only much taller. Overall it will be roomier than a Wagon w/o being excessively tall. Should be a killer package with the 1.3DDis

If it has a better ride quality/ suspension than the Swift, it will be a huge hit. What do you think the price difference will be between similar specd Swift and Splash?

Don't you think it will cannibalize the Swift?

As far as I know the platform and the powertrain is the same, so is the level of refinement and features, so they it will be priced at least as much as the swift. The marketing will probably be different, reflecting that Swift is supposed to be a more stylish sporty car along the lines of the old Zen, while the Splash will be positioned as a practical family car.

I think since most Indians are driven by practicality and value and lots of people are not happy with the rear seat space and boot space of the Swift, the Splash could easily overtake it in volumes.

Knowing Maruti, Splash and A-Star will be additional models to the lineup and will not replace anything, you can bet your last paisa that Maruti will continue to flog the existing Wagon R and Alto for many years to come.

Splash is based on Swift Platform. Internationally it was aimed at replacement of Wagon R. Here the Wagon R is still going very strong despite the competition. Positioning will be a matter as the Splash is slightly more roomier than the Swift. It has better packaging than Swift.

Maruti will try to position the Splash in between Wagon R and Swift, IMO.

They co-exist peacefully in many other markets and the Splash is slightly more expensive. Better ride and more room but not as sporty. Like someone said, Swift is for the younger crowd and Splash is for growing families.

Guys
here is the interior of Splash.
The first interior was of a-star.

For comparo, if you have a look inside of the black car you can see vertical rectangular air vents on right, so basically the interior picture on first page is of a-star and the interior picture below is of splash. This will clear lots of doubt.
