Some times i feel the 1.9 Jetta might be priced along or slightly more than the Laura. I think the Jetta internationally has more features and goodies than the Indian Laura. So with all those goodies the higher end model might be priced slightly more than the laura provided it is 1.9 TDI Jetta DSG.

Both the 1.6 petrol and diesel might be priced under 10 lakhs. (But that would leave a void between the 1.6 Diesel and 1.9 Diesel)

raj.

I'm sure it won't be priced under 10. Anyway is anyone from here going for the launch in Mumbai?

As per Autocar or Overdrive(forgot which one) May edition, Jetta is expected to be priced around 13 Lakhs.

Is this an official communication from VW, or is it from a dealer?

A couple of spelling & grammatical errors in this invitation are bothering me, such as Venue spelt as 'Vanue', register spelt as 'Regsiter', No. of Car (s) owned, No. of Delegate (s) coming.

I would expect VW to pay a little more attention to details such as these.

Good news that the car is coming in July, but the engine range should be more wider or rather more interesting. 1.6 petrol will be success only if priced under the 1 million Rupees bracket. The diesel should be Crdi, both the 1.6 ( it is ) and the 1.9 also.

I dont think that this vehicle can be very successful product as the prices will be on the high side. The diesel engines are its core strength.

True, I searched the net but learnt that while VW will move to CRDI from PD, it would start with Passat....this finds mention in the latest issue of AutoCar. No such news about the Jetta, but I spoke with Elite Motors the dealers for VW and got this information from a guy called Felix, who was the sales-incharge.

I am sure VW would have the best build quality in its class, they need to do well on reliability as well. VW figures low in the reliability index (Reliability Index :: how reliable is your car? and BBC NEWS | Business | Japanese cars 'are most reliable') in fact lower than Skoda .

Quick read of the detailed user reviews indicated that the biggest problems were with the electrics, followed by transmission.

Indian users would be damned to face reliability issues after coughing up a premium for the car.

Cheers,

Yea different choices I guess but somehow I feel that the Jetta's interiors will not look good in beige and wood.

Check out the pictures of my Jetta below. The interiors look solid and very Euro. I don't think wood and beige will work as well as black does in this car.

In second picture there is 260 KM/H on the Speedo, that's something we don't see in too many cars in India. Just for knowledge, which cars in India below 17 Lakhs have 260 on their speedo?

Sure Jeeta will have this edge in its segment.

Check out the build-your-car feature on the American VW site. Its brilliant most of the combinations look good.
