The Specs look good for a replacement of Octavia. At same Price or marginally above. But the bigger concern is the look of the car, its ages old, its even worse then the outdated Octavia.

VW’s positioning of the Jetta is somewhat confusing. For £18k you also have the option of buying a 5dr Golf GT TDI or their other Mondeo rival, the Passat 2.0 TDi S. With both using the same 138bhp unit, it appears VW already has already catered for the hatch/saloon customer dilemma.
looks like VW has the problem world over.....

If it's priced around the Accord, I would like to see the Jetta's 0-100 figures against the Accord's! Should make for some fun reading!!

I don't think it will be more than the Laura. Looks like no sunroof, no xenons and looks like no electric seats.

The comfortline model seems to have it..If you look at the Laura interiors and the Jetta they are pretty much identical. the specs are the same, the A/C controls are the same, the trip meter looks similar etc.. The only modification seems to be exteriors..

I think the pic shows seat heaters and blower direction adjustment not seat adjustment as such.

VAG are the masters at part sharing, from floor pans to brake fluid, they share just about everything between Seat, Skoda, Audi and VW.

after sales and service of FIAT may be bad, but its definitely better than SKODA.

I have a palio and an octavia, so, i say this from experience

Wow if pricing is what it seems to be then i think Hyundai Embera diesel is a class above what they trying to do is to price Jetta above Already over priced Skoda Laura Thats crazy may be the have modest targets of selling 1 Jetta for every 10-20 civics or optra magnums diesels sold

Update - Jetta launch date in Bangalore.

I got a call from Elite motors, Bangalore. They say the launch is on 18th and cars will be on display/available for TD the following day. They are taking bookings for the Jetta - 2L down payment - fully refundable.

There will be two engines on offer - a 1.6 petrol and 1.9 TDI (not PD, I specifically asked them). Information about the 1.6 CRDI was just someone's idea of a joke on potential buyers. The price starts at ~13L, ex-showroom. And hold on - this one is a CKD, apparently with a very high import content. Do all Germans think alike?

IMHO, wait for the launch before you make a booking. The dealers are still holding back information.

Hey CBlazer it is the PD engine. It's the same engine as the Skoda Laura. You will find that information if you go to the Volkswagen India website and read the Jetta specs for India. There's even a pdf which you can download with the specs of the 3 variants. Only thing missing is the complete features. Some features are mentioned on the site.
