This is a rumour most certainly and will remain that forever.Ford will not stop Ikons prodution at all.
Its like saying that Maruti will be stopping Esteems production.

And think bout it,Mondeo was a no-gainer,Fusion lost out on competition and the Endeavour is doing average sales. The Ikon is the heart of Ford. They obviously wont take that off, will they??

Somewhere on the forum, I posted a pic of the latest Fiesta saloon - looks like a scaled down Modeo - maybe that will be coming. I think the Fusion will take off oif they reduce the price. Car never took of in Europe - identity crisis ?

Its been about 5 - 6 years with Ford selling the Ikon. A replacement would seem logical - Yes. But the replacement would not be the Fusion.

The Ikon will continue till Ford introduces an appropriate C segmenter.

Of course none of this is concrete yet, but it seems very beleivable indeed.
No way Ford will replace the Ikon with the Fusion... The Fusion is a niche model, and the Ikon is a bread-and-butter model. There is no way Ford would be able to sell the Fusion in the volumes of the Ikon. The would just end up pushing prospective Ikon buyers to the (Hyundai) Accent, instead.

On the other hand, Ford could replace the Ikon with the Fiesta sedan. The current Ikon is based on the previous generation Fiesta.

maybe thet will replace it with the fiesta sedan but as long as its an affordable drivers car who cares.
if they launch the focus, it will be in the 9L bracket.
should i sell of my ikon in that case.
i dont want to live with 4 cars that are resale disasters (actually 3 because i am never going to sell of my palio)

Lol maybach.
Will go and check the Jan sales list and post.
On the bright side, Ford is beating their main rival (accent) hollow.

I don't think the IKON production will stop. It still sells in decent numbers. After the DuraTorq engine got into the IKON, it has begun to find favour with Taxi drivers.

Two days back, a friend sold his BULLET Lightning 535 to buy an IKON, and I had another friend drive 350 kilometers and pay the whole amount for a wine red IKON!

You just revived a 4-year old thread!

Ikon still continues after all these years. May be, they might consider retiring it once the Figo starts bringing in the numbers!
