New Skoda Superb Caught testing in Bangalore

Hi guys,

Just happened to see one of my colleagues from Bosch testing the new Skoda superb at our Bosch factory in Peenya today,
Launch would be probably in October 08, He wouldnt let me click the snaps, but was just able to get few photos of the car. Bosch seems to be working closely developing the ECU/ABS technology for this car i presume. Exuse me for the bad quality of pics, photos were take on my Nokia N70

Comments please

Does anyone think that the Superb has lost its "Skoda" identity? The rear looks just like any other sedan while the front is so BMW. Simply put, Euro manufacturers are known to retain their identity across different generations....look at the rear of any Mercedes, BMW, VW etc. and you will not mistake them for any other. This Superb, on the other hand, is breaking away from the standard Skoda rear light arrangement.

Fantastic scoop, RedRage! Thank you for sharing these pictures with us.

The front grille is unmistakably Skoda!
but the rear lights seem to depart from the skoda theme...not a bad thing though..they gel well with the rest of the rear section.
the two ways to open the boot is awesome!

I am of the opinion that it's good for them haven broken away from that design.

The Skoda brand doesn't give much snob value in the luxury segment and in addition the Superb looked too similar to its younger brother- the Octavia. These factors kept a lot of buyers away from a car that is a winner on the inside with a great diesel engine.

Although the new model holds its identity as the Lauras big brother, it still break away from being its twin.

I think this new model will click well in our market provided it's priced and equipped well.

Great scoop!
The looks of the car make me first feel that its Jetta with looks changed to Skoda standards. The headlamps are VWish and from the rear, I felt that they have diverted away from traditional Skoda looks.

But its a diversion for the good.

Have to agree on this. The rear looks a confused mish-mash, albeit a little neat. The front is a typical Skoda-ish grille between two BMW-ish head-lights.
