I had always wondered which cars own the crown of being the 'firsts' to introduce a certain technology on
Indian roads. Though I know the answer to most of the features I have mentioned below, I still miss out on some. Would be great if someone throws some light on the following (with indian context)
- First car to introduce MPFI
- First car with power windows
- First Diesel engine car of India
- First turbochrged car
- First car with digital odometer
- First car with digital speedometer
- First car having automatic transmission
- First car with rear windshield wiper
- First car having central locking
- Car having radial tyres
- First car having music system as standard fitment
- Car having chilled glove compartment
- Cars with tachometer
- Cars having AC !
Pl note that the BMWs and Mercs and all other imported cars (CBUs) should be excluded as all of them had these features even in the early 80s. Also, if anyone can tell of any more 'Firsts', it would be great. Better still if someone remembers the years too.

I think first to offer 4WD was Maruti Gypsy in 1986
Think Standard 2000 had a lot of features.
Few more -
Powered OVRM
Parking sensors
Sunroof
And auto folding OVRM (sorry, don't know what to call this) - Seen this in Accord and BMW

If we don't count Mercedes and BMW, then I think that the first car to offer airbags was Daewoo Cielo.

Nope M&M had it in many of their Jeep models, much much before even before Maruti was born.
