This is the previous generation Santa fe. Current one is much sharper looking.
There is another thread already running on Santa Fe.

Too much work to do that - else we would have seen all manufacturers use this method when they test their new cars. This specific Santa Fe is very likely a private vehicle, imported for personal use.

Properly registered so not a trail mule
CBU import will result in a failure for Hyundai.

Old Gen Santa Fe

Greetings!!!

The Santa Fe (Black one) is the old generation one. The car belongs to a doctor. He bought it from the korean counslate. Its run more than a lakh km. Its an CRDI Engine. Two new santafe have come in India. One is in the Chennai plant which is golden color and the other one is the delhi corporate office of Hyundai.

I think the car might be launched by next year. The pricing will be an crucial

Any idea on whether it is going to be launched as CBU or CKD? That will give an indication on pricing.

According to a recent official version in media, it would be launched as a CBU and would continue to be sold in the same manner for about a couple fo years, after which it would be assembled locally.

I agree with Condor. This type of thing maybe feasible for a body on frame SUV where they can try to bolt on an older body to test the newer chasis and power train, but given that the Santa Fe is unibody, this is not possible.

I left my Hyundai Elantra for service with HMP in Chennai yesterday, I saw a Santa fe standing there, waiting to be serviced at the backyard of the service centre. It had seven seats and was good looking, It is the current generation model and It was confirmed by a service official that it would be launched on August 2010.

hyundai Santa Fe August 2010 Launch

hyundai will be launching their suv model santa fe in the month of august 2010. Three cars are already on test. Two days back they had done their first service in HMP. The colours are white, maroon and grey. They will be launching the middle trim level in india. We wont be getting the luxury variant. Internal source has indicated that the pricing would be between 18 to 20 lakhs. They are planning to target it with captiva and fortuner. Only diesel model MT will be available. Six color options would be there with 2years warranty. Leather seats would be standard. The milage would be 10-12km.

Tires are of 17" and above, Twin exhausts must be atleast 3L engine, from the back this looks something like BMW Xx, better than Fortuner atleast (IMHO).

Nice catch Sen

Cheers,
Rajesh
