Re: Sx4 Hatchback ... A Perfect Fabia Killer?

Guys,

Touching upon a thread which is more than 2 years old. Since Maruti has mentioned that they will be launching 20 model and since this segment i.e. Small MUV is kind of heated up.

So how many of you think that there is a chance that the SX4 hatch back will be launched as part of the 20 models planned for next few years.

Note now that they have a diesel engine, it would make it a cool hatch all-round.
Please find the pictures in the first post, I had seen the hatch in China it is a looker for sure.

Your views?

Re: Sx4 Hatchback ... A Perfect Fabia Killer?

With Maruti having showcased SX4 cross over at the Auto Expo 2012, Can we renew our hopes to see this one hit the Indian roads soon? Any one having inside information on this car can share it for the benefit of all .

Re: Sx4 Hatchback ... A Perfect Fabia Killer?

Considering that the car is already 5+ years old, I don't see much chances of this being a success. Would probably result in most people complaining about Suzuki dumping old cars here.

Re: Sx4 Hatchback ... A Perfect Fabia Killer?

If they introduce it with 200mm GC and a 4x4 AWD, it will solve a lot of problems being addressed by a lot of small SUV being introduced here. Imagine the plight of the "Duster" or "Eco Sport" if SX4 4x4 hatch is in competition!

Actually instead of bring the new compact SUV etc, Maruti could have brought an AWD version of this, would have been perfect IMO. An 90 BHP VGT multijet could have done wonders to this.

Re: Sx4 Hatchback ... A Perfect Fabia Killer?

I saw the SX4 hatch (badged 'SX4 Sport') at the Maruti dealer in Udyog Vihar, Gurgaon. Could not click pictures since I was in a tearing hurry. But just to make it clear, it was this car:

People were trying this vehicle on. Looks like this may be close to launch

Re: Sx4 Hatchback ... A Perfect Fabia Killer?

I really hope this gets launched in India, esp in Diesel, given the current fuel pricing. I mean I would be ready to book one in Diesel the day it launches sans the 4x4 version.

But I doubt that maruti will launch this, given the fact that the existing SX4 is not exactly setting the sales charts on fire despite its diesel engine & the fact that it looks old , getting quiet long in the tooth (IMHO).

That's very interesting. Which dealer was this ? If the hatch also comes in Diesel & CNG, like the SX4 does, it will definitely be a good potential buy.

Re: Sx4 Hatchback ... A Perfect Fabia Killer?

Swift ZDi already touches 7.7L OTR (Kerala) and is not cheap to buy. Above that Maruti already have Dzire and Ertiga which are doing extremely well in the market. I cannot see Maruti pricing SX4 hatch below Swift, so this is likely to be at least equal in price to the Dzire. At that price point (almost equal to i20) how many takers will SX4 hatch find? Maruti has perfected the art of crowding the lower hatch segment with choices - maybe they are trying to do the same here.

Re: Sx4 Hatchback ... A Perfect Fabia Killer?

@eddy: I did not note the name of the dealer, but this is in Gurgaon Udyog Vihar Ph. 3, right next to Autopsyche. The car was painted metallic orange and wore "SX4 Sport" number plate at the rear. Looked much better than the SX4 sedan, IMO.

My first reaction was 'what on earth is a FIAT Sedici doing here!'. Quickly noticed that it was a Maruti showroom

Re: Sx4 Hatchback ... A Perfect Fabia Killer?

Hope they launch it with AWD & an Auto gearbox. Would fit my requirements to a T. Otherwise it is 12 Lacks higher budget & that is a stretch.

BHPians @ Gurgaon - pls keep ur eyes peeled out for any test mules & can somebody confirm by a visit to this dealer?

What an IRONICAL CATASTROPHE it will be for FIAT, if Maruti manages to sell this car like hot cakes

A 100% FIAT SEDICI with only Suzuki Badges

This was jointly developed by Fiat and Suzuki.

It was not just Fiat who developed this model. It was jointly developed by Suzuki and Fiat. The SX4 is based on same platform as well.
