Is it just me that feels that it could be a face-lifted Tavera ?

Scoop: Ingenio Sightings

I was going on my friends bike one day on JM Road, Pune and spotted this. As you can see it was heavily camoflauged and a beefy SUV with solid bumpers and plastic claddings on the side. Also it is a different vehicle as compared to what has been scooped elsewhere in team-BHP. I hate to say, I missed the front pics but what I noticed is that it looked a lot like scorpio especially the grill. Could it be the new scorpio since it is already a bit long in the tooth...

It is huge as you can see in the pictures. The Santro besides looks puny.

Good find. The rails on the top reminds me of the Scorpio. Apart from that the bumper and others are completely different from current scorpio. Possible that its from Mahindra.

Yes it was clearly a Mahindra when I saw it, no doubts about it. You would say the same had you seen the front that I did but could not click. The grill was a straight pick from scorpio and the bonnet sections that I could see were heavily chequered in green and white.

i dint understand 1 thing, in the title you have clearly stated that you have spotted an ingenio, which is correct. then why you having doubts thats this is a new scorpio? mahindra is not replacing the scorpio till 2010.

That was because there is another scoop on Ingenio in team-BHP. That vehicle is completely different from this one and smaller. If that was definitely the Ingenio (which we have no idea about how it looks), then looking at this makes me think of the new scorpio, because I remember seeing it. It was just perfect to call it the new scorpio. It looked similar to the existing one but a bit more matured, much like every upgrade looks like. So we really can't be sure.

I spotted the Ingenio in the last week of July on the Mumbai-Nashik highway and again on Saturday, August 16, on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The car was similarly camouflaged as shown in the pics here and on both occasions the number plate was showing MH-15 which reinforced the feeling that the car was the Ingenio.

If the launch is imminent in a month or so then I will wait before taking the final decision.
The launch is within one month, so hold on for a while, last I heard it was supposed to be end of August. I am sure it will be launched before 30th Sep to encash on the depriciation buying.

The vehicle looks impressive to me and should give good competition to Innova and the new but very sad looking Sumo Grande. The new 2.2ltr engine too is excellent, not that the earlier 2.6 was not. Refinement levels at mahindra have gone up since they launched scorpio and with them gearing up for the launch of Mahindra Appachalan (Scorpio twin cab for US) in US, mahindra is becoming nothing but better. I read on one of the news forums that Americans have given a thumbs up to it except for what it looks like. The mpg and torque figures were best in class along with the hauling capability.

It looks unproportinate. Earlier I thought the Scorpio did but after seeing the Grande, Scorpio is a Range Rover cheers:

Indians actually like good looking cars which is evident from poor sales of the Logan and Grande. I consider Indigo better looking than Logan, and VFM made it a good seller.

I was travelling from Mumbai to pue last morning and saw this vehicle ( 3 of them actually) racing along the highway... All of them had MH-15 TC <ABCD> numbers

The camouflage was not good enough to hide the Mahindra logo on the front above the grill. The gril was exactly the same as the scorpio. The headlights seemed quite SX4-ish....

The car looked big enough to be an Innova competitor.

Do we have any official launch dates for the ingenio ?

Autobild India this fortnight issue revealed an image of an ugly looking MUV, saying that its next one from Mahindra - which would be Ingenio (on in some other name). I wish the picture is only a poor visualization of a designer and should not be a product from Mahindra.
