I don't know how many people it affects. It depends on what roads you travel. I travel 26 kms one way cutting through the centre of Bangalore from one end to other in approximately 1 hour

Times will be different for different people
People who use the Gurgaon expressway may spend an hour doing 5kms, and I do the 5km commute to office in just 10 minutes or less.
This is just an average of major roads.

That's because WE have the BEST BRAINS on the road.

I take 1 hr 30 mins to crawl 14km....through brilliantly made traffic jams, thought-fully done roads and ever so courteous fellow road users.
I'M LOVING IT.

The article says the survey was conducted during the peak hours but still it is a bit of a surprise and really don't think it is as low as 10 Kmph

Its not that bad Tanveer. Average speeds are close to 60-80 on normal days and the toll takes 10-15 min for cash payment and 5 min for Tag users.

Time: 9:00 AM and 7 PM

With a 9 am start, it takes me an hour (best time is 45 minutes) to cover ~15 km from the Hebbal flyover to C V Raman Nagar via Mekhri Circle, Jayamahal Road, St. Johns Church Road, Murphy Road and OMR. Return is via OMR and the ORR - have done the distance in 12 minutes at midnight last week. The ORR from Krishnarajapuram till Hebbal is choked in the evenings until 9:30 pm. Bangalore roads are a pleasure - only in the middle of the night or very early in the morning.

Yup, you are absolutely right. Its lower.
Last night, the journey, from my office in Electronics City to Kormangala, of 16 km took 2 hrs by bus. Simple maths. Speed = Distance/Time. Average Speed = 8.

This is a good finding. At least we know that we are first in slow moving traffic. The silicon city of India has one of the slowest moving vehicles on roads.

It is 2 Kms from my home to office in Koramangala. If I drive it takes anywhere between 15 minutes to a max of ...can be anything, depends on traffic, once it took me more than 40 minutes. But if i walk, it takes 20 to 25 minutes max. So if the weather is good, I leave the vehicle at home and walk, but these days the bikers ride on the foot path. So walking is becoming too dangerous and taxing..

Not really surprised as we can see traffic either stand still or just about crawling. This is a sheer waste of energy (petrol and diesel) and money.

With this being the reality, I really get fried when I see the large DNA news paper hoardings - stating that there are traffic jams in NYC, so why complain. The agency that came up with such ads should their home work properly.
